“Great hospitable location”
Reviewed May 15, 2011

From our cozy little cottage we have a fantastic sea view. This small bed and breakfast is located in a beautiful mountain setting, away from the crowds. The beds are great and you will awake to the sound of birds and bleating goats. Owners Ulrike and Ioannis are very hospitable. During breakfast many homemade things are served. Upon request Ulrike cooks a delicious Greek dish in the evening. Rhodes town, only half an hour from Kritinia, is worth a visit. Have lunch/diner at restaurant Nireas (Sofokleous 22, Old Town Rhodes), Theodoros Tsikis will serve you a delicious fresh fish with grilled vegetables. Lindos, on the other side of the island is is also worth a visit. Closer to Kritinia, there is a very good restaurant in the harbour of Skala Kameiros, named Lukas. Highly recommended for those who wish a casual and relaxing holiday!

My stay at the Auberge Kalopetri couldn't have been more wonderful. From the moment I arrived unti the moment I left I was made to feel welcomed and cared for. Elegant without being pretentious, everything is beautifully designed and maintained. Breakfast, served on a terrace with a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside, was delicious and was presented with style. Some of my favorites were the fresh, locally grown figs and bananas, yogurt with honey and rice pudding with brown sugar.

After four days in Athens where the pace of life moves at hyper-speed my stay at the Auberge Kalopetri was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The nearby Kopria beach was perfect for a swim after a hot day of sight-seeing. And, the nearby castle was my favorite place for watching the sunset. Sitting atop the castle ruins looking out at the sun going down on the Aegean Sea was magical. In the middle of the night I enjoyed going out onto the patio to see an array of stars unlike any I've ever seen before. One night while lying on the stone wall I saw a shooting star! I also loved seeing the animals. My favorite was Eva, the donkey, who loved the apples I brought her.

I traveled to Rhodes to spend time outdoors enjoying the beauty of the landscape. Staying at the Auberge Kalopetri was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural setting. I was given several great tips on places to visit. It was very helpful to have suggestions of places for day trips based on my unique tastes and desires.

As a solo traveler I felt that had I encountered any problems or trouble while at the Auberge Kalopetri I would have been able to call for help and/or advice and would have had a solid source of guidance and asistance. I have no doubt that whatever I might have needed would have been made available to me.

It is obvious that the Auberge Kalopetri is a labor of love for the owners, Ulrike and Ioannis. Everything has been thoughtfully planned for both the comfort of the guests and with attention to enviromental concerns. I will never forget their kindness and thoughtfulness.

Nothing more to add really to the already complimentary reviews, but a kettle with tea and coffee in the room would be a nice addition. Ulrike and Ioannis have a great location that is far removed from the package tour havens of Lindos/Rodos/Faliraki where it seems people rarely venture out of their hotels. This is a different side of Rhodes. It is much less travelled and you will require a rental car to reap its benefits whether it is the nice beach at Monolithos, the castle up the hill in Kritinia or the local wine in Embona. Do try souma and goat chops for a local flavour and visit old Rodos town and Lindos Acropolis- but go early to avoid the heat and crowds - and return to Auberge Kalopetri to relax.......

Great hospitality of both owners, the two dogs and mule Eva.
They were a big help on discovering Rhodes. They recommended the best places to eat in the neighborhood.
Breakfast on terrace with a beautifull view on the beach and mountains. Worth visiting, even for a quick stop.

We had a wonderfull time there, a real treat for eyes and stomach

We stayed at this guest house at the end of June, and loved every minute of our stay. The room was gorgeous, beautifully appointed and comfortable. We had a view to the sea from our porch, and breakfast was served on a beautiful terrace also overlooking the rural valley and the sea. Breakfast was delicious, and dinner, served upon request, was terrific. Ulrike and Ioannis were so welcoming and helpful. We had an early flight leaving Rhodes and Ulrike put pastries, fresh orange juice and coffee in our room the night before so we could have breakfast before we left. A beautiful small, pebble beach is a short walk away through the fields. The castle of Kritinia, with an amazing panoramic view of the coastline is also close by. I cannot recommend Auberge Kalopetri enough!

Auberge Kalopetri is a marvellous place to stay if you need some rest and/or if you like hiking. Far from the touristic northside of the Island, but still very central to discover all of Rhodos. (Rent a car!!!) The sea is nearby (700 metres) and the appartments all have their own terrace with seaview. Breakfast is served at the big terrace behind the reception. Selfmade cheese, marmelades and tea. The owners are very friendly and helpfull. They do speak English, French, German, Dutch and Greek. And not just a little bit, but very well! The Auberge is new and everything is clean and of good quality.
