“Relaxing Break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2014

It was a lovely birthday treat and our second stay at a Hoseasons lodge. We chose KP Lodges because it was fairly close to York but also in quiet countryside. The hot tub was definitely an essential feature after staying in a similar lodge last year, a refreshing start to the morning or relaxing end to the evening despite the terrible weather. My partner's made it a 'policy' now that I have a look around the holiday accommodation when we arrive before taking the luggage out of the car because I can be, let's say, a little bit 'picky' and has endured many trips to reception to ask for alternative rooms but I can say that each time with Hoseasons lodges I've been more than pleased with the accommodation. We stayed in lodge no. 21 which had three bedrooms, one more than I was expecting but not a problem. We used the two other bedrooms upstairs, master bedroom was spacious, light with large full length windows but was overlooked by another lodge rather than looking straight out to the countryside or golf course. Monsoon shower was lovely and large bath too. The other upstairs bedroom was great for our two year old and he was thrilled with his own tv to watch cbeebies!
Plenty of room in the hallway to hang coats and put muddy shoes. The kitchen, diner and lounge area is open plan, which was a little bit cold sometimes even after turning the heating up. The kitchen is well stocked for a short break and we ate in a few evenings. We didn't visit the clubhouse as there was a lack of vegetarian choices.
Pocklington village is well worth a look around and not too far. We used the park and ride service from Grimston Bar quite a few times to get into York as car parking is extortionate. I must admit I usually hate using public transport and avoid it if I can but the service was very good, £2.70 return for adults and children free. The rain hardly stopped while we were away but it didn't stop us having a great time. Lots to do in York, visited the Jorvik museum for the first time which was really interesting even for a two year old. Spent our last day before travelling home in the National Railway museum (which I had boring memories of as a child!) but have to say I really enjoyed this visit, don't know whether it's due to impending middle age or the enthusiasm of our little boy (who loves Thomas), but I would recommend a look.
There were a few niggles about the lodges which we noted on the feedback form so I will mention them here. There is some construction work ongoing and some noise can be heard from 8am and earlier, although they're not immediately visible from this lodge, depends where you're staying I suppose. Wi-fi in the lodges would be useful. The hot tub is not really secluded, there is some screening but this could be improved for privacy and as a windbreak. At the time of booking with Hoseasons we requested a high chair but were told that stair gates and baby monitors were to be requested at reception on arrival. However on arrival at 5.15 pm we were told maintenance staff had gone home so couldn't provide a stair gate until the next morning, also the monitor was not available as it was broken. It would have been helpful if Hoseasons had told us to contact the lodges before arrival. KP Lodges have e-mailed us since arriving home and apologised for this so just a note to anyone booking here to request beforehand.
Overall we had a fantastic break and I would recommend the lodges.

Booked for my daughter and six 10/11 year old friends to have a hot tub and pizza sleepover/party. Took all four rooms in one of the cabins. Excellent, friendly staff for whom nothing was too much. Despite the foul weather and howling gale outside the pizzas were delivered with a smile. Seven wet, hyped-up little girls had a whale of a time and a very late night, yet even managed to get in to Sunday breakfast on time. Cannot recommend too highly !

Stayed in January for 3 nights. Absolutely brilliant!!! Stayed with hoseasons three times now and this was the bet lodge so far.
Used the private hot tub everyday at least twice. Great for the kids (under supervision of course) living area was plenty big enough with all the appliances and kitchen utensils you might need. We stayed with 2 other adults myself and fiance and 4 month old and two kids. Loads of space. We had the master bedroom upsatirs with ensuite. The bedroom had floor to ceiling windows that looked out over the golf course. Absolutely stunning views when the sun was rising.my only issue was the shower. The shower was lovely, hot and powerful, however it didnt drain quick enough even with the shower turned down and so flooded the bathroom a ilttle.
Restaurant on site was lovely, had a great meal there on the Saturday night. Borrowed a wii which was for the kids for a couple of days with games. Kept them entertained plus us to be fair for a while :)
All in all couldnt have asked for a nice place to stay. With Pocklington village just round the corner (very small, quaint but lovely) and York less than half an hour away. In a word - Brilliant. Would love to stay there again soon

We went Here on a week Christmas break. The lodge was beautiful clean modern and we loved the jacuzzi bath. The lodge bar was extremely modern and our Christmas lunch was beautiful.
The only thing I would say is that the Beds were rock solid!!! My mum has a severe back condition- fortunately we arrived a day before my mum so advised my mum to bring her topper for her bed. This still didn't work then we had to go out and buy another one for £120!!!!!! I complained to reception about this and the staff were very unhelpful. We had paid a huge amount of money to stay here over Christmas and were all looking forward to a comfortable relaxing stay and this was not the case! People need to feel comfortable when they sleep this was one of the most important things.
Also on arrival we were supposed to be staying in lodge 24 but when we arrived we were changed to 17 with no confident explanation as to why.
Such a shame about the negative points as our trip could have been sooo much better. I am going to email KP lodges about this issue.

We stayed for a week at New Year and enjoyed every second. We were lucky enough to get Lodge 19, one of the new 3 beds, which is set on the edge of the Forrest so very private and quiet. We used our private hot tub at least twice a day, which was lovely and relaxing until our little nephews joined us (they were more interested in splashing than relaxing!).
Wall mounted plasmas in every bedroom, cosy large living areas and floor to ceiling windows with beautiful views of the woodlands and natural sunlight... Really modern century living in the country!
Plus Pocklington itself is just 1.5 miles so a nice walk, short bike ride or quick car hop.
I can't recommend these lodges highly enough, even with 6 adults and 2 children there was plenty of space for everyone!

Room Tip: The old lodges (which are still ultra modern!) overlooking the golf course have the best views of th...

The good first.
Excellent location to visit the Moors, York, East Coast. Very well equipped, very modern, staff very friendly, very nice setting in woodlands.
The not so good.
In the 21st century you do need to supply wifi in the lodges, we have visited lots of them, most have it. You can not call it Uber cool luxurious without this feature. Wifi is available in the Glasshouse, but slow beyond belief.
The bad
Mould in the showers. Could not belief it, lodges are almost brand new.

Sort out the problems and you deserve 5 stars.
