This was our third stay at KCC. The location is great and within easy reach of Swanage and Studland Bay. We stayed for four nights in Carpenters 4. The room was not really up to standard. The floor lamp shade was ripped, the extractor fan in the bathroom did not work and dust and bird droppings kept on falling out of it into the bath. The hot water was insufficient and ran out before there was 2 inches in the bath. Probably this was just as well as the sealant around the bath had come away leaving a gap for water to seep down. There was a small flat screen TV in the room but the signal was bad and cut out every so often. Although we are a family of three, there were only 2 cups (one with a visible crack) and 2 glasses. The bedroom area was adequate but the windows clearly has not been cleaned in a long time and were cloudy with grim. The sheets had a musty damp smell and the mattress was uncomfortable and made a noise every time you moved. Although we wrote a note about our concerns (there was never anyone at reception) no one apologized or did anything. When we finally did speak to the manager she said that another extractor fan had been ordered and that she would have a look at it - but still no apology!

The breakfast were good and plentiful. However, the breakfast room needs a good clean as there were dead flies on the window ledges!

It is a great shame that attention to detail let KCC down. There seem to be too few staff doing too many jobs! Our experiences on previous occasions were better.

Room Tip: Don't stay in Carpenters 4, it is in need of repair and a good clean. Also as it is next door to...

Sorry to hear that your latest visit was not up to standard and we value your constructive critism. Tracy apologises in person if you felt that you had no apology. She was pleased to see you both again. Far comment on staff levels as two of our key staff were off sick so we were rushed off our feet as peak occupancy. The laundry delivers fresh laundry twice weekly and all sheets etc are of the highest standard. The mattress concerned is brand new as our policy is to replace any damaged mattresses immediately. The lamp has been removed and the mug which actually has a fold in the ceramics not a crack has been replaced as has the extractor fan.
Our Reception Desk is not staffed as we are not a Hotel and we have a member of staff in the Office between 9-5pm and the Housekeeper or Deputy are on-site 24hrs per day. The Duty Member of staff's number is always on reception should Guest's require help. All the rooms have their own separate water boilers so we will investigate the low levels in your room. We hope on your next visit standards will be back to your expectations !

We stayed at the KCC about 10 years ago and had a lovely time (just one night), however this time was a very different experience. On arrival we were not made to feel welcome and felt we were left to 'fend for ourselves'. We were not even given the basic info about fire regs, etc. although this was buried in a file in the room. The room had not been aired and there was a damp musty smell which was present throughout our stay. The bathroom was in desperate need of some t.l.c. (new grouting & mastic) and there was a nasty stain on the ceiling. The cooker was disgusting (dirty and smelly), and worse still - the only two saucepans which had once been non-stick were now without much teflon coating, and rusty - we complained and were offered two replacements in similar condition! The outside of the fridge door was rusty and the seal had a huge amount of mildew. A little bit of care and attention to the bathroom and kitchen areas of this apartment would have made a huge difference as the location of the KCC is good, with some lovely views of the Dorset countryside. Needless to stay, we will not ever be going back there.

Room Tip: The B&B rooms may be better than the self-catering accommodation.

We booked the Kingston Country Courtyard as it looked like a good place to stop off on our way over to Cornwall and break up the journey. The photos online looked good and we were expectant of a great nights stay. It is a quaint setting with buildings round four sides of a square courtyard area with plenty of parking outside each room. The staff on reception when we checked in seemed a little distracted / disinterested and sadly were not very engaging nor welcoming. Our room #2, was spacious and reasonably well appointed with small plasma TV and coffee making facilities. The high beamed ceiling and wooden rafters gave you a sense of having more space in the room. Unfortunately for such a large room we only had a standard double bed (small), and worst of all a terrible mattress which creaked and groaned as you moved. This resulted in a very restless night with the matress creeking everytime either of you rolled over during the night. The Bathroom was a wet shower room, which was fine, but in need of a little TLC to replace grouting etc, but the power shower was fantastic. Breakfast the next morning was OK, but not exactly noteworthy. Overall quite a disappointing experience staying here - we had higher hopes and expected more. Shame.

We stayed at the KCC for 2 nights as part of a small UK summer break a few weeks ago and had a great time.

The hotel is situated in the Purbeck Hills about 2 miles from Corfe Castle and is a great base for visiting Swanage, Studland Bay, Lulworth and Durdle Door.

We had a Carpenters Suite which was split level with bathroom and lounge area downstairs and comfortable bedroom upstairs. The lounge was very spacious with great sofa for relaxing on. An added bonus was the fridge. We had a bath but I think some of the rooms have an alterantive wet room. My only complaint would be that the TV's are very small for the size of the lounge. I know you don't spend much time in a hotel room watching TV but when the Olympics are on you like to see some of the day’s events!

The breakfast was great and the views from the hotel garden over to Corfe Castle and beyond were fantastic.

There are plenty of places to eat if you drive back down to Corfe and the Scott Arms is just down the road, serving good pub food. I recommend you book as the first night we tried to eat there they were fully booked!

We are hoping to a have another short break in Dorset in September and look forward to returning to the KCC.

Although the room was of a good size, clean and comfortable, the service left a lot to be desired. Spent three hours trying to phone the manager on duty on the number left at reception, left messages and still no one got back to us, or even acknowledged the messages we had left. Also, there was a nice sized wet room with a shower, which had so little water pressure, we had trouble even getting wet in it and had no option of a bath instead. Vastly overpriced at £100 for the night. To end on a positive, the breakfast was excellent.

My friend and I booked this for a last minute trip to Dorset. We found it easily thanks to some directions included on our confirmation. The place itself is a little out of the way - the nearest pub/restaurant is the Scott Arms so if you do choose to make the walk there and back for a night out, pack a torch! The place itself is geared up for the wedding crowd in a sort of motel style but I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised when we entered our room as it was very large for a twin - a converted barn style with a beamed ceiling and plenty of room for us both to spread ourselves out for a few days. The twin beds were very comfy and we had a nice sofa and flat screen TV, wardrobe and dressing table. The bedding was cosy but we did find we had to remember to switch off the towel rail as it got a bit too warm at night! The room has wide access due to a barn door which would be accessible if you used a wheelchair or had a large buggy but I think the gravel in the car park may cause problems for some users. There is a path around the accommodation so this may need to be investigated if you do have special requirements. Our room had a "wet room" style shower with a wide door so again they do appear to have considered guest requirements from all angles. There is one point we both found a bit odd - the bed linen was very clean, soft and comfortable, the room cosy and nicely decorated but the towels we were provided with appeared very out of keeping with the price - almost like cheap B&B towels and were actually quite tatty. It just appeared to be a very odd thing to skimp on. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and it was nice to note that there were cereals provided for gluten free diets so again there is an attention to detail which is nice. You can connect to wifi in the restaurant over breakfast if this helps you to plan your day.

Room Tip: The accommodation does appear geared towards being able to provide for disabled users on the ground...

We've just had a civil ceremony and reception at KCC- It was brilliant! Great service from the staff and everyone commented on how lovely the barn was- it had a very warm feel. Bobbie helped us to plan everything so it ran smoothly and all details were accounted for. Even when we changed our menu plan at the last minute they were very accommodating and just wanted to ensure that we had everything we wanted. The food was excellent- generous portions and everyone loved it! The accommodation was of excellent standard and had beautiful views. Overall we guarantee you won't be disappointed if you choose KCC for your wedding! Thank you Bobbie and Tim! x

Room Tip: The honeymoon suit has amazing views of the countryside to wake up to in the morning!
