Murtaza & Avanti's luxuruious holiday resort has an enchantingly homely feel. We were welcomed & spoilt by courteous staff, & pampered with meals of our choice.
We savoured high tea in the courtyard garden with a pair of guinea fowl for company.
And there were romantic candlelit dinners on the terrace under the laden avocado tree, with fireflies to add more light!
The plunge pool was a delight, located stunningly on the terraced garden overlooking the Ulapana stream down below, with stunning views of the mountain slope rising steeply on the other side.
For exercise, the terraced steps leading down to the entrance & a walk along the river was just right.
My favourite place for an afternoon nap was the 'Khaat" or swing bed suspended from the ceiling in the living room, & the therapeutic sound of the rushing waters from the stream to lull me to sleep.
Lucien, the manager is a wealth of information about the estate that Weir house is on, as well as any topic one cares to discuss - from worldly affairs to cricket!
Weir House is undoubtedly my 'slice of heaven'.

Weir House is an idyllic haven. The perfect place to unwind. Every aspect is blissful - the delightful service of the charming, incredibly helpful and discrete staff, who provide delectible meals and delicious mixed fruit juices; show you around the charming grounds or accompany you on walks along the river, explaining about the many local plants; amusing our children delightfully. The architecture is absolutely stunning, as are the interiors, with a wonderfully open lay-out. There are so many fabulous touches, making Weir House visually gorgeous and blissfully comfortable. Even the collection of books was superb. The only draw-back was that the rest of the trip (which included other boutique accomodation) couldn't quite live up to this. This place is something incredibly special.

The weir house simply oozes with tranquility. Our 3 day stay at the Weir House was wonderful. The entire property was ours during our stay. The staff was super friendly. The food was delicious.
Picture yourself being surrounded by the sounds of a gushing stream at the edge of the house, surrounded by mountains while sipping your morning coffee, slouching for hours with a book by the pool.
There are plenty of local sites to see if you feel the need to explore the area. My recommendation though would be to spend as much time as you can within the Weir House compound. Quite certain the urge to venture out will be the last thing on your mind once you settle in to this incredibly fortunate find.
Highly recomended stay!!

I have never been to such a beautiful place. The Weir house is a very stylish house beautifully furnished and set in the most exquisite location. The house is surrounded by clove bushes, and many other exotic plants in a lush manicured garden. Coffee and tea plants grace the hill at the rear of the house behind a beautiful plunge pool.

Not only is the setting beautiful, the chef prodices a banquet of delightful Sri Lankan specialties or a more western menu if desired. I wish I had realised how accesible and beautiful the Weir house is from Colombo. Catch the train to Ulapane or drive the windy scenic route.

A definate on my next trip to Sri Lanka

We are Srilankans who now live in Australia. We Go back there to visit Family and Friends. We were told about The Weir House by Friends who had been there. We had the best time there. We could just relax and enjoy the company of our extended family in the most beautiful surroundings. The food and the service was faultless. It is located in a place that reminded us of the true beauty of Srilanka. You can go for long walks along the river and bump into the very friendly villagers. There is plenty of room for the kids to Run around in and explore. The hardest part of the trip was packing up to leave. If it is pure Relaxation you are looking for 'The Weir House" is for you.
