Love this little eco-lodge, the butterfly house is really cool and Tino is very passionate about the butterfly's he cares for, you can tell. The Garden has a great medicinal plant section, each plant is labeled and has a explanation of what it cures.

Great place to camp and play a round of Frisbee Golf!

There is a great communal area with wifi, Movies to borrow and a Kitchen! Also the food is really good!

We loved this place! Food was great and the easy access to the highway is appreciated.

We had so much fun here! Its truly an adventurous place to stay, because you are literally in the belize jungle in little cabins with no personal luxuries but it was truly an unforgettable experience here. Tino, who basically runs the place was awesome to chat with and is doing everything he can to popularize disc golf in the country (the only disc golf course in belize is on site!) so if you have any interest at all in discing in central america you need to stay here, or at least come throw a round in the jungle. Location is great for seeing the nearby Mayan ruins or just catching a sardine bus to San Ignacio!

We decided to stay at the Trek Stop to save some money and get away from the busy town of San Ignacio. We arrived quite late without a reservation but the cook (who was the only one available due to a family emergency) was very helpful. She did her best to make us feel welcomed and find us a room. The next morning she prepared food to go for us as we were running late for our ATM tour. The room we had was small with two double beds and a set of hooks for your hammock if you like. I liked how they have set up compostable toilets and the butterfly sanctuary was very cool. Loved this place and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms that are closer to the washroom make it easier to get to them in the middle of the night. The...

I stayed at Trek Stop as part of an Adventure tour. Two of our group left saying it was not up to their standards. I agree. As a so-called eco-lodge it was to close to the road, traffic noises were very loud. The sitting area was furnished with very dirty plastic chairs. The tiny cabins were clean but I do not like the shared outdoor toilets and communal showers. Last of all the kitchens were grubby, they would not pass North American standards.

I spent about a week here in the summer and was affordable, comfortable, beautiful, and well located.

We played disc golf on their premises, walked to the store to buy groceries, walked to the ferry to Xunantunich ruins, and took a tour of Actun Tunichil Muknal from The Trek Stop. Some we talked to crossed over to Guatemala for a day trip, returning in the evening.

The accommodations at The Trek Stop are simple but comfortable. I would recommend it to just about anyone.

We decided to stay here to get a bit away from bustling San Ignacio. The units are tiny beautiful things and the food is good. The atmosphere is friendly and the owners (entire family) are great great people. The 5 minute walk to the nearby town (market) is mellow and goes alongside a gorgeous river. You can take the chicken bus to / from here. And you're SO close to the Guatemala border, where you can grab a taxi to Tikal. Bonus: this place has a butterfly habitat you can walk through, as well as a medicinal plant garden and some (tiny) Mayan ruins on site!
