“Nice hotel in great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

It's a nice place to stay, kind of small rooms but they are ok.
The location is the best, you just cross the street and can take a long walk by the rim of the bay.
I was actually expecting to have an "ocean view" from my room, but wasn't possible, I'm sure ti must be amazing.
Breakfast is good, the room only includes continental type, but you can upgrade to american or ask for the menu with good prices.
The Galeria Plaza Mall is within 1km I guess, if have time you can walk there and find good stuff.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean front room

we rrserved in advance and it was easy to find arriving at night on the see front. the staff was friendly and the place quiet and very near the city center. We decided to walk there and see a little bit of the night-life with illumination of the town wall. We had the choice between several restaurants casy all empty so it was easy to make up our mind. Being more a business hotel, ocean view also do care for familly visitors as well.

Room Tip: not the room around the pool?

This is by no means a 'destination' hotel. We moved here from the Hotel Tucan Siho Playa which was too remote for us. We had to find another hotel quickly. Staff at the Ocean View Hotel was very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is clean and functional. Probably more of a business hotel. We chose it because of its location - walking distance to the Old City and we liked the waterfront promenade. Small pool - not so clean. We did not get in it! It has tennis courts and a gym, which looked a bit on the 'worn' side which we did not use. Rooms that viewed the ocean were noisy. No restaurant or bar. Adequate breakfast buffet. Front desk staff spoke fairly good English. Spotty WiFi in the rooms and lobby. A few English channel TV stations. Beds were clean but firm. Large bathroom. New, beautiful mall within walking distance. A 'travel agent' of sorts located in the lobby was able to arrange day trips for us to the ruins and a tour of the city. Without our IPad and the use of Google Translate, we would have been unable to communicate with him. This place is not really a vacation destination.

Room Tip: Do not get a room facing the ocean! Lots of traffic noise.

A great location. Take time to walk the sea front. Go in to the walled old town and enjoy all it has to offer. The hotel is superb and offers the best in rooms and food. Very good business centre. Excellent staff.

Room Tip: Take a room overlooking the sea.

As part of a tour we stayed one night at this hotel. First impression at reception was that it looked clean and would have standard hotel amenities - we were wrong. We arrived lateish and were hungry but were told that the hotel does not have a restaurant or even a bar. Having been travelling all day this came as shock to us. Our room was on the ground floor reached by walking along a corridor which badly needed redecorating with mouldy wallpaper. On entering the room we were hit by a horrible mouldly smell coming from the bathroom. On further inspection it was discovered that the shower floor had not been fitted correctly and therefore the water would not drain away, leaving a puddle of water hence the smell. The view out of our window was of the service area where we had a clear view of the maintenance staff and them of us! Breakfast was poor, but at least we could have some food. How this hotel received its star rating I have no idea, even the fountain outside the hotel was not in use.

We found this to be a very nice hotel. Room was large and clean. Bed was comfortable and linens very nice. Bathroom very functional. It's about a 20 minute walk to the historic center of town. Price was competitive for Campeche.

We stayed in this hotel for a night as part of a group tour which included breakfast, our experience may not reflect individual bookings.

The hotel is located just off the seafront in the newer area of Campeche with easy access to a Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonalds if you like such things but not such a nice walk into the town centre. The hotel has a more business feel than characterful, not sure I would want to have a long stay there. There is a small pool set in a terrace.

We had Room 140 a ground floor room, this had an access path alongside which was being used frequently by workman, as there was no privacy screening to the window we were completely on view, in the end we drew the curtains and put the lights on, not ideal. Because we were at the end of a corridor away from the main road it was very quiet at night. Apparently the ‘better’ rooms have a sea view.

The room was of good size with two large single (or small double) beds but the beds yet again had four large lumpy pillows on each bed, a couple of decent ones would have been better. The beds were clean but very firm. The bathroom was large with a very large shower area (be careful of the tiles which were very slippery when wet), hubby went to put his towel on the towel rack when it promptly fell off the wall.. Air con was fitted but didn’t have a remote so to alter it in the night meant creeping round with a torch. The room was supposed to have Wi-Fi but the connection was dismal, I couldn't get a connection in the lobby although others did. There was a safe deposit box in the wardrobe. Plenty of drawer space. A large screen TV.

Breakfast was provided in the dining room. The selection was OK although not the largest choice on out tour.
