I'll start by being clear that we did not spend a night here. But we saw a room, ate in the restaurant, and encountered several staff members. I was impressed enough to want to get them on to Tripadvisor. When we searched for a hotel in Campeche, we were struck by the absence of anything that falls in between the OK $90 hotels and the $300 Puerta. If we had known about the Don Gustavo, that's where we would have been. Price is around $200/night.

This is a beautifully restored older house with a central coutyard. We saw a room that was very well furnished in dark wood pieces, with a king bed. I felt and sat on the bed; it was great. Firm with a soft thick top, unlike the hard top mattresses we found in most places. The location could not be better. It's a quiet street, but a block from the central plaza in the historic city center. Staff were very courteous.

We returned for dinner. Service was outstanding, food was excellent.
