As most of the Fiesta-franchised properties, Gamma is run very professionally. Well-trained and knowledgeable staff, faultless rooms and services.
Somewhat cool-ish swimming pool in winter was the only drawback.
Book with confidence.

We stayed with a group for one day as a part of our tour of Mexico. A very good choice facing the sea and a short walking distance from the center of action. Nice spacious rooms, excellent breakfast with an excellent choice of food and very helpful staff. All in all, an excellent choice in Campeche.

We booked the Gamma based on the good reviews it has received, they were pretty bang on! The hotel, which as the name suggests, is right across from the Malecon, which borders the Gulf of Mexico. You are approximately, a twenty minute, 200 peso, cab ride from the airport.
As you exit the airport, you will find people beckoning to you from four booths, each offering you their taxi options. We chose, Beatrix, whose husband Luis, was one of the taxi drivers. A plug for Luis, he was a very pleasant man, some limited English, and someone we chose later on to drive us to Edzna. Private transportation was a service that was indicated on his business card.
The Gamma is a very modern, pleasant looking hotel, and you will not be disappointed in the least, by your choice! It is a business hotel so it offers meeting rooms, etc. There is a pool area with a kids' pool, so obviously, the hotel also caters to families. There are gym facilities, apparently a sauna, and a full service restaurant. There were signs advertising for their Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations. These were reasonably priced and delicious looking, so if you are staying here over the Christmas season, you might want to consider this. The rooms are very comfortable, you can choose a room facing the sea, with a small balcony or a room with a view of the old city. There was bottled water in the rooms, cable tv, a safe and free wifi. The wifi was a bit sketchy at times, but we could always get it to work. The housekeeping staff do a great job of keeping everything shipshape. The "front desk" and "doormen' were very cordial and helpful, and there were always some that could speak English. Roman, a gentlemen with a Canadian connection, was one that spoke good English and was particularly helpful to us.
There is a very ample breakfast included in your room cost, or if even more variety is wanted, you can purchase the breakfast buffet. We chose to continue with the breakfast that was included in the room. It offered coffee, juice, fruit, and enough different choices so as not to get "boring", and all served up by pleasant people!
There was always chilled water and sweetened hibiscus juice available in the lobby, and in the evenings and mornings, water and coffee were also available in the upstairs lobbies. We were on the third floor, and though we didn't see the other floors, assume this was probably the case.
If the choice to stay here is based on sightseeing, then the choice is well-made. The hotel couldn't be better situated, you are only a short distance away from the Sea Gate which opens into the inner walls of the old city. You are also just minutes away from Calle 59. Calle 59 is a very good example of "a colourful Campeche street', as well as having a very good selection of good restaurants.
If you have a hankering for modern opulence, go visit Plaza Galerias shopping mall. This modern, upscale mall is a pleasant 30 minute walk along the Malecón or a short 40 peso taxi ride away.
All in all, you can't go wrong on choosing the Gamma Campeche Malecón for your visit to the fine city of Campeche.

Room tip: It would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room.

Our visit to Campeche was very enjoyable and rewarding, the Gamma hotel was wonderful to stay at, and very affordable. The staff was helpful and friendly, the front desk can arrange excursions to the ruins with very knowledgable guides and reasonable prices. English language isn't spoken as much as other areas of Mexico, but a good translator on your cell phone makes it simple to ask any questions.
