We were staying at the Gamma Hotel, just across from the Malecón. This was a very nice spot to be, you had the view of the water and you had the cool sea breezes. The Malecón probably stretches about for about 3.5 km., the whole width of the city. It is a very pleasant walk along a broad, even pathway, alongside the walking path there is a bike lane as well. There is a grassy boulevard between it and the 180, which follows it on the one side, This is a divided road, no worries though, not so terribly busy or noisy. It is a pretty walkway, there are a number of monuments depicting different historical events. This is a good place to walk and use as jumping out spots to go see the different areas of the city. The older, historical city, of course, follows the water. We had spent the afternoon at the Liverpool Mall and walked back to our hotel along the Malecón, about a 30 minute walk, This is a particularly pretty walk to be doing in the evening. The temperature is wonderful and the sunset spectacular!
Note: There was construction going on right across from the Gamma, improvements and upgrades. Most of the Malecón seemed to be unaffected, though.

A walk down the malecon is one of the nicest things to do in Campeche. You can walk for miles, seeing fishermen and eating in nice restaurants. Nice and cool when it's hot!

Explore the water view along this seaside path. Wear your hat! Hot in the sun. Enjoy the local fishing boats.

Enjoyable place to stroll, you will not find shops or vendors here. There is a large section under construction

Oe of the charms of Campeche is its seaside location, and the Malecon is an excellent place to experience it. In addition there is usually a breeze to carry away the city's heat. Outside the Puerta del Mar there are pedestrian crossings across the highway; the cars actually stop! The Malecon includes separate paths for walkers, joggers, and bicycles so everyone can move at their own pace. Residents as well as tourists come to the Malecon; it is a great place for people watching, and of course for enjoying the sunset.
