Enjoyable place to stroll, you will not find shops or vendors here. There is a large section under construction

Oe of the charms of Campeche is its seaside location, and the Malecon is an excellent place to experience it. In addition there is usually a breeze to carry away the city's heat. Outside the Puerta del Mar there are pedestrian crossings across the highway; the cars actually stop! The Malecon includes separate paths for walkers, joggers, and bicycles so everyone can move at their own pace. Residents as well as tourists come to the Malecon; it is a great place for people watching, and of course for enjoying the sunset.

A fairly new progress, the roads coming to town are pretty much all torn down. They are expanding and building new, better and wider roads. After a few minutes of drive into this torn path, you will pass by the malecon to your right.

I took a day tour from Merida that was supposed to return but I opted to be dropped off here as it is my next destination. We arrived close to sunset and you can see the reflection of the fading sun into the horizon. Sunsets are great everywhere, a beautiful part of the day.
We ate lunch at a nearby restaurant. My hotel is about 10 minutes from here and I was dropped off. I took advantage of the remaining day and took a walk. It is about 10 minutes for me to get to Malecon, took a short walk into the sunset and enjoyed the closing of the day. There are separate paths according foot traffic and bikes. You can stay here long or just a few minutes. Enjoy some of the statues, passers-by or sit on a bench.
