“The food was delicious”

We had their famous shrimp. We were the only couple there, they actually turned the lights on for us, but maybe we arrived too early.

“Good seafood by the sea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

In a city with limited resources, this is one of just a few really first-class restaurants. But from a variety of local fish to the traditional coconut shrimp, the menu here is most pleasing. A modest wine list at prices consistent with US eateries. Ingredients are fresh; dishes apparently prepared from scratch.

“Definitely Lower Standards than Before”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

A recent visit here for the first time in a couple of years was quite disappointing. The quality of the food has gone down, and is now no better than a half dozen small and economical fish places in Campeche. They seem to be resting on their prior reputation, and the fact that their prices are higher than ever doesn't help. I would definitely rate Chez Fernando, Marganzos and a couple of other places on the TripAdvisor list a substantially better choice.

One of my favorite places in Campeche. I have been going to La Pigua for many years and NEVER disappointed, It is a favorite of the locals and the seafood is second to none. An excellant place to DINE.(not just eat!)

“Restaurant ambiance, average food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

They really do try to give you a five star feeling at la pigua, compared to the more down to earth approach in many mexican restaurants. But then the food isn't that special in my opinion. My cockteles de camerons came out of the fridge and the Pan de Cazon was good, but not great. Oh and don't forget to bring a sweater, they can turn the AC on and then it's just to cold to be comfortable in a t-shirt.
