“A collections of the past history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

A tunnel built by the CPM during the fight between CPM and Malaysia govt and Thailand govt.

A great experience to go thru the one km tunnel to feel how it was built, listening to the past history by commenter, viewing the old photos and their equipments.

A good walk to the tunnel which is around 1.5km and another 1km inside the tunnel.

“A good walk!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

The tunnel is around 40 mins from city center and around 20 mins from the hot spring. You can rent a Tuk Tuk (kinda taxi) to here. The entrance fee was only $1, that's really cheap.

From the entrance, you have to walk through rainforest which have many big trees and lots of things to see. Since the trees are quite tall, you sure don't feel hot at all but may feel a bit humid since it's around 15 mins walking up to the tunnel.

At the gate of the tunnel, there's a woman who you can ask her to tell the story about this place, she can speak good Chinese(better than Thai).

Inside the tunnel has not so much to see though, you will see how they lived that period if time.

There's also a little museum after you come out of the tunnel, and it's Okay.

“Manmade tunnel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

This is one tunnel that amazes me. It was dug out by hand and it houses the inmates comfortably. There they show us the storage areas, the communcation centre, the cooking area, the training place and even the wedding house. They even have places where one could rest and the most important are the exit areas.

Located at Ban Piyamit 1, Tambon Tano MaeRo. About 6km from hot spring. Was once the base of Malaya Communist Division 2. Winding through the mountain for about 1km, about 50ft wide with 6 entrances (entrance 2 closed). Entrance 1 & 6 guild u to both end of tunnel, entrance 3 next to the first explain point, entrance 4 near the exhibition room & exit 5 next to exit 4. Entrance fee for adult r RM5, child half.

Don't forget to try the Betong famous soup opposite the tunnel entrance gate before leaving. there is a pagoda before main entrance of the village where u can take a break w nice hill scene.
