Revisited on 1 Feb'14 for 3 nights stay, we booked 5 deluxe rooms and managed to check in easily. The rooms are clean and comfortable c/w all the amenities the most importantly is the super cooling air-cond. Overall we are happy with it and this hotel has being our 1st choice every time we visit to Betong. You can easily access to foods, wet market, betong plaza, tower clock, betong giant postbox, betong muzium within walking distance, if you are lazy to walk you may opt to rent a motorbike just ask the reception for assistance. If you are a coffee lover, not to be missed is the Modern Café next to this hotel they serve wonderful coffee (my favourite is the Iced Cappuccino). We have no worries of the parking space, there is a parking attendance that we direct you to the parking space available. Lastly, we would like said thank you to Mr. Phaibun Dithantkit for all the hospitality you've shown us.

Stayed there for 2nights. Booked through email and received quick confirmation. We arrived around 9am and they allowed us to check in no problem. The room is clean. Amenities are basic for Thai hotel. The shower could do with a longer hose though. We booked 4 deluxe rooms in total and had no complaints. The front desk speaks fluent Malay and OK English. The only thing that amused us was the walls are paper thin. If you switch off the TV you can hear all sorts of things going on! This is not a family friendly hotel! But good for adults.

Room Tip: Stay on the higher floor, there is a karaoke lounge on the 2nd and it can get loud. Try and get a room near the far end away from the lift.

I've been staying in Mandarin Betong for years now. So I tried Modern Thai after the insistence of a mate.

Cheap it is. But that is all about it. It is by the roadside and occasionally it is noisy. Someone the rooms are not that soundproofed either. The hot water in my room wasn't working.

I don't mind paying more to stay at Mandarin Betong. After all, just like what Mick Jagger would have said. I am a man of wealth and taste.

We booked the hotel more a month ahead thru Facebook. Altogether we took 6 rooms as there 6 of us. The hotel can be considered centralized as it is near the places where eating is of no problem. THe room was large for 2 persons with a double bed. All the convenience of a regular hotel can be found i.e. a hair dryer; 3 bottles of drinking water, soap, towels, a fridge, etc. What is missing is a mini safe! Modern Thai Hotel has only 1 storey of rooms which is the upper most floor ( 6th floor) and can be assisible by walking 1 floor after taking the lift to the 5th. floor.Overall, it is satisfactory for the money you pay for it.

Room Tip: Make regular check on the window are locked from the inside which the cleaners forgot the to locked!

The room quality is good for the price and I recommend this place. I would choose to go there during the week as the weekends can get filled up with noisy guests unfortunately.
I asked for a room at the end of the hall and we had a very pleasant evening and managed to sleep through the night.
Morning dim sum and noodle soup at the eatery opposite the hotel is a must too.

Room Tip: You can ask for a room at the end of a hall. They can be quieter.
