Mahia Beach Motels and Holiday Park
Reviewed March 13, 2011

This upper mid priced popular holiday park is across a quiet road from the beach. Booking a pitch was easy and reasonably welcoming. Pitches are sandy grass, not much shade although generous in size, some with power and some with water as well. Although some refurbishment has taken place, many communal facilities are tired and in need of further refurbishment and generally the camp site feels a bit old. You are warned on arrival that site fresh water contains various minerals and your tanks should be flushed when you get to another site with pure water. Drinking water (triple filtered rain water) is available in the camp kitchen. Motel accommodation is reasonably new. Wifi is available but the signal is weak and is best accessed near to the camp office. There is a useful shop (also does some take-away meals) at the entrance to the site. The beach is very large, slightly muddy sand and slightly smelly, never-the-less it is good for sandcastles and swimming in the bay is popular. The sun set view is spectacular.
