“Disappointment - Do not go!”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

One word - disappointment. The rooms are old, dark, musty, and the lights don't work, and the toilet bowl keeps refilling throughout the night... It's creepy, and we didn't enjoy our stay. One of the worst hotel experiences ever! The photos on display are misleading, and it's clear misrepresentation. The lakeside rooms are completely different and separated from the garden view rooms. It's a clear misrepresentation and we feel thoroughly cheated.

We spent 1 night in the 2 bedroom appartment and were glad the management allowed us to escape the next day in the morning despite having booked several night. The rooms are terrible, especially compared to the price you pay: small, smelly, dirty, very old furniture ( more a set of old planks barely stickimg together), dull and dark. Did not dare leaving the kids in their own room.
Swimming pool was ok (20 years ago).
A complete refurbishment is needed.
Avoid it if you can and stay in Taiping to visit the aquapark (a bit old but quite pleasant for kids with the Bubble and the Boomerang), the eco park ( ok), the orang utan island (could be skipped), the sky chairs and the skycycle (nice)

We stayed for one night only and the apartment itself is presentable -- air-cond was working, clean sheets, room and bathroom -- yet the furniture does look old and sparse. The apartments are more like budget acco. For the price that we paid, I think it was okay, but could be better. There were no tea or sugar, however, in the room so you have to bring your own.

Whatever on the Internet is NOT what you get. What you get is
- sticky grimy floor in the room
- sticky grimy floor in the toilet
- mouldy smelling sheets
- old and run down fittings and fixtures
- things that go bump in the night

For RM220 Room 165 was Horrifying.

The whole resort needs a MEGA overhaul.

Decided to go to Bukit Merah as it is cheaper than Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh. Bukit Merah Lake Town Resort is rather old but still a lot of people coming for short holiday. Front desk staffs just ok not so friendly unless when you asked them questions. Booked the superior room directly via website for MYR180/night. Room is spacious with a sofa, a queen size bed and a single bed with pull-out bed. Enough to cater 5 to 6 family members/friends. However the old system air-con make some noise but cools the room very well. The toilet is clean and the towels are brand new white. Hair-dryer is also available in the room. Housekeeping delivered our extra towel within 5 minutes. The breakfast at restaurant was good and satisfying. You can have noodles, nasi lemak, toast, fried kuehtiaw and cupcakes. Kids above 90cm height/below 12 years old have to pay MYR17/pax.

Do visit and enjoy yourself at the various entertainment centre. You will find lots of souvenir shops, food stalls (Malaysian style) and things to do for 1 or 2 nights. Do not miss the The Hoot tour at Ecopark at night which cost only MYR10 for adults (includes Lake Cruise) and MYR 5 for kids below 12/over 90cm height. You will enjoy watching nocturnal animals and able to feed the animals such as Binturong and deers. If you are lucky you'll meet their out-of-cage iguana and peacocks. Of course go crazy at the Water Park. Challenge yourself to slide the Boomerang which takes 5 seconds to go down. But be careful, some of the Water Park's elements are a little rusty and sharp. Overall, it is worth the money to travel for 4 hours from KL, if you are not looking for something classy and on an average budget.

I would agree with some of the viewers that the hotel is poorly maintained. I stayed in a deluxe room, which can accommodate a family of 4. There was a one kind smell when we entered the room. The facilities are just too basic, which I think, the hotel needs to benchmark against other hotels i.e. to have a modern layout and setup - LCD TV, rain shower, ASTRO channels, WIFI-is a must.

I think the places to visit are kind of interesting for kids - getting the kids to appreciate the nature by having the ecopark and orang utan island. The water themepark needs to be improved further - to have a more water playground for kids..the unused lands nearby are such a waste- MK Land should upgrade the place to be a better themepark. It has a great potential to shout about, but somehow the available lands are not being utilised. Sky cycle is irrelevant for a family- using your hands to cycle with a limited seat for 2. I dont remember any modern themepark around the world is having this kind of attraction..

The breakfast offered at LeLac cafe was just ok- we had nasi minyak ,ayam masak merah and mee kari during breakfast where they can actually opted for nasi lemak or bihun goreng instead. It is not worth for an adult to pay a buffet breakfast at the price of RM23 per pax, and RM17 for a child. Serving nasi minyak and ayam masak merah in the morning is a bit turned off. The RM17 breakfast price for a child is too pricy and unreasonable.

Overall, Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is a nice place for to visit where the kids can appreciate the mother nature, but this hotel really needs a "facelift". A more relevant facilities and theme park need to be offered as to attract more people coming to this place. Please change the layout of the hotel website- it is not appealing at all.

Room Tip: My room location is very strategic, near to the theme park entrance. Choose a deluxe room if you ar...

ok if u wan to come here with family for relax. However, the resort is poorly maintained with nothing much to eat. On top of that, our room was suddenly flooded on the first night. Luckily, we managed to come back on time and we were allowed to switched to another room.
