Great spot. Close to surf and very peaceful. Make sure to grab supplies and a few bars of surf wax in San Juan Del Sur or Rivas before you head out because there really isn't anything out there but good waves and peace and quiet.

Quiet, remote, on the beach, hospitable… First come first serve, as there aren't many rooms and some are on the beach and some in the back. But overall everything was nice and the owner was nice and accommodating..

Popoyo is a really quiet and relaxed place to be, if you feel like taking a break melting elefante is an appropriate destination to go. The owner, marc, lives there with his young child and wife. he's knowledgeable of the area, honest and is fluent in english and spanish.

The day before my travel companions and i left we asked him for a cab to rivas for the next morning, he called a cab driver who is a friend of his who ended up being the nicest local i ever met. He drove each of our two groups to the exact bus stops we had to go.

For his honesty, for the "feel like home" kind of place, despite the lack of drinkable tap water... its a must go place.

Markus was very nice and his hostel is truly novel. While not being optimally designed for useability staying at the melting elefante is an experience very close to starring in the flintstones. 200 characters
