Just north of Friar's Bay on the French side. Very secluded. Has beer and sometimes food. No bathrooms. About a 1/2 mile hike in on a hilly rocky trail. Worthwhile visiting. Bring your own food and beverages if you don't drink beer. Remember, there are no bathroom facilities at all.

Happy Bay is well worth a visit if it's just beach and sea that you're interested in. We visited twice, and there were very few people there both times. Despite reports the snorkeling was not very good, and there was some aggressive gawking. I imagine this is less of a problem when the beach is less crowded.

One of the best beaches in Saint Martin. Clean and quiet beach, turquoise water and palms providing shadow for those who don't want to be in direct sun light all the time. It's easy to get here from Friar's.

On the island for the day with an RCCL cruise, we wanted a quiet beach away from the crowds heading in droves to Orient -- Happy Bay was just that. You need to go to Friars and then walk. Follow the somewhat hidden path from the far end of Friars, looking for little signs and arrows printed on rocks . . . don't give up, you WILL get there. I'd recommend no flip-flps. The beach itelf was beautiful. Not the best we've been on compared to beaches on other islands, and the surf was a little rough, but a nice day of seclusion. No facilities directly on this beach. As others mention, visitors by cat arrive at the far end of the beach, locals are in the middle of the beach and a few naturists can be found to the left. After the day at the beach, stop at the restaurant on Friars Bay for a cold drink and a snack.

If taking a taxi, we HIGHLY recommend you contact Maria Longlais taxi122@gmail.com or 599.587.9639. She can provide a reliable, relaxed roundtrip ride to the beach or an informed tour of the island.

The beach is absolutely beautiful and favorite among locals. No access by car. You must go to Friars Bay (north side of the restaurant) and find the trail at the parking lot edge and walk about 15 minutes. I promise you won't be disappointed. Stunning beach, not crowded, typically no services unless some local decided to set up in the little covered shack there. I would not take your kids - you will find this is a swimsuit optional location. The hike is not bad - you could do it in flip flops if you had to. Take a cooler, take your towels, take your magazines and relax all day. Sometimes you will have the place to yourself.
