“Great private tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014

The day tours are perhaps a bit pricey compared to the local taxi tours. But it was completely worth it. Joyce could not come herself, but she had sent Victor. Before the trip, Joyce called me on the phone to understand my tour preferences, and even my food preferences. She thought of a plan based on that, and had sent instructions to Victor based on this. Victor was a perfect gentleman, and he was very patient and courteous. He knew how to conduct a tour in a great way. We enjoyed seeing the plane landings, we visited 4 different beaches, could have lunch whenever we wanted, and pretty much visited the entire island, with even time for shopping.

“Private Customized Tour of St. Maarten”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

We booked our private tour for 4 people via email through Joyce for our Cruise(RCI Jewel of the Seas) stop in St. Maarten on a Monday. We thought $300/day quoted for a tour with her driver rather than herself was a little steep but considering all the glowing reviews and price of average taxi fare in St. Maarten we decided to go for it. The Van was very nice and climate controlled, and the cooler filled with water, sodas and rum punch was a nice addition. Since this is a customized tour it behooves you to do your research thoroughly before coming to St. Maarten so you can get the most out of the tour. Of course they can recommend a course but they don't know you and what you like, and if you're not clear about it then you might end up disappointed. We started w/ a drive around Philipsburg the Dutch Capitol and a high lookout point, then to Maho Beach to watch the big planes landing right over our heads which was probably the highlight. There was a nice outdoor restaurant/bar right there to sit in the shade and have coffee/snacks. We only spent about 20-30 min there because we weren't sure how much time we'd need in all the other stops but in retrospect we wish we would've spent 45min-1hr. Then we drove by the old Salt Pond and Simpsons Bay to the French Side of Marigot and spent 1hr shopping and having a light lunch. Afterwards we drove through the Culinary neighborhood of Grande Case and then headed to Orient Beach to check out different sections of this famous tourist area. Unfortunately the weather there was very windy and slightly rainy so we didn't spend too much time there. Our second to the last stop was at Coralita Observatory overlooking the nice quiet bay and beyond to the Atlantic Ocean. Our last stop was at Front St shopping area back in Philipsburg around 2:50pm and initially we had told our driver that we might walk back to the cruise but by this time our mom(who has a bad knee) didn't want to walk back and asked him to pick us up in half an hour around 3:30pm. He was very hesitant and not exactly keen on coming back, probably because he thought we were done with him at this point since the Cruise is only a 15 min walk away and there isn't much parking in that congested area. We were surprised because we thought for $300 we would have a driver from 9:30-at least 4pm and it was only 2:50pm when he dropped us off at Front Street. He did come back to pick us up so it wasn't a big deal but it did sort of put a damper on our experience. That's why I think Customized Tours are slightly tricky when you don't have a clear agenda and a timeline for each attraction/activity. Since you are paying top dollar for a private tour and time is money on vacation, you want to maximize your experience but it's hard to tell what all the options are and how to time yourself properly when you're the one calling the shots on the schedule. Our driver was nice and knowledgeable about the island and it's history and answered all of our questions but I'm sure it's just not the same as getting Joyce the owner as the guide. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who"s willing to pay for a private tour, but I'd urge them to do it w/ Joyce and be very clear about from when to when you'll have the tour til.

“Excellent Day Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

We pre booked Joyce before leaving home.

She has a fixed price of $375 for the day so we went on our cruise critic roll call and got a party of 7.. excellent value !

Joyce asked us where we wanted to visit, however it being our first time we allowed her to dicate the tour.

She took us to some stunning places, absolutely stunning.

We specified no shopping and Joyce was happy to oblige, thus giving us more time to explore the island.

I would highly recommend Joyce.

“Fantastic Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2013

Great Experience. Joyce did a great job communicating via e-mail prior to our arrival. She met us at our hotel on time and in a very nice vehicle. She adjusted the tour to meet our request to have breakfast very first thing. Joyce is very knowledgeable about St Maarten. She easily discussed the government and politics as well as the history and sites of the island. We did this tour before leaving for a cruise on Wind Star cruises. If we ever do this type of trip again, depending on our flight plans this would be a great tour to to do at the end of a cruise to fill the morning/early afternoon time before our flight. We can recommend Joyce to any traveler coming to St Maarten.

“Could not be happier!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

Found Joyce on Trip Advisor and made contact once we landed. Scheduled a time for later in the week. We wanted to see off the beaten path areas so we could take some cool wedding pics. She nailed it! So much fun and she was a great value and very nice. Will call on her again when we return.
