We stayed 2 nights at this tiny place (only 2 rooms) in this secluded location "Barreal". We had heard from this secluded location by San Juan-born friends. It is so sunny and dry there that it is ideal to grow all types of vegetables and aromatic herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage). Carmen makes home made chutneys and marmalade in a charming hut behind the main house. A clay oven and a parrilla (BBQ) complement the great salads we had, all taken from the organic farm. The place is not for everyone, but we enjoyed going back 20 years in time. We biked in the afternoon with views of 6,000 mt. Andes mountains as a backdrop and rode horses by natural creeks. They also have a dessert that they call "El Barreal Branco" and you can sail in the wind, we did not try this but heard it is hilarious. We heard you can also reach this place from Mendoza (dirt road, ca 3 hours), we went via San Juan-Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Still no website, which adds to the charm.
