“Food's nice!”

Try the chicken panini, it's my favourite, and if the pea and mint soup is on, try that too!! The coffee is really nice, about the only place to get a decent cappucino in Penzance.

“What a lovely little place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

Got in by chance escaping the rain on the day of Newlyn fish festival. The place was nice and welcoming and despite being fully packed staff was very friendly and efficient. We were sited promptly and told that because of the load there is a 20 min waiting time for orders. Coffees and cakes were served immediately. What a walnut cake! I'm not a great fun of sponge cakes, but this one was something special. It was FULL with walnuts, loads of them, in big chunks - that amount of walnuts costs a lot believe me, but they still were there! The sponge was moist and tender and the cream was nice and not too sweet. Lovely cake to accompany a cup of coffee. I was told by an owner that it his son and daughter in law baked those cakes evening before. All of the food is home made at the premises, with love. And the size of a cake portion was HUGE! I noticed that all different portions were huge and hearty. We ordered two crab toasties and a bowl of chips that came after 15 min wait that we happily spent drinking good coffee and munching into the cake. Toasties were tasty with a lot of crab meat inside, green salad crispy, portions really big. I could not finish mine and had a half packed to take away. Highly recommended little cosy gem in Newlyn.

“Welcome break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

Brilliant. What a gem. Recommended by the people we were staying with and called in on a walk from Mousehole to Penzance. Had local crab sandwiches - the biggest sandwiches I have ever seen!! - with fresh brewed "real" coffee. Very welcome and very delicious all devoured in glorious Cornish sunshine.

It was so good we even called in again on our way back from Penzance for afternoon tea.

Very friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. The food is all prepared and cooked to order, local where possible. Fresh and innovative menu's complete the picture.

Well done Duke Street Cafe - you should be very proud of what you have here.

“Good coffee and amazing cakes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

Stumbled on this lovely little place in Newlyn when wandering around Newlyn. The coffee is good. Kids had great hot chocolates. The cakes are homemade on the premises and I have tried a few now. They have all been amazing. You get a good size slice as well.
Well worth a visit, recommend a walk along the prom if you are also visiting Penzance. Service has also been very friendly.
