“Good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2014 via mobile

We visited this restaurant while staying in a cottage in Newlyn . I called up to book the morning of our visit the man on the phone was very cheerful and booked us in . The waitresses on arrival were both friendly and attentive . The five of us in our party had starters main and a couple of desserts . The pizza was one of the best I've had especially if you like it hot and spicy. My son demolished his in seconds . Throughout the meal the service was very good and we didn't wait for anything . We have eaten in lots of restaurants all over the world but if you just want a nice meal that's inexpensive this place is great . Would return most certain if ever in the area .

“Waste of time and money”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2014

Firstly, our main waitress was helpful and pleasant if a bit timid. We were 4 children and 11 adults on holiday. The starters were all without exception very good, the mains were not. I had Carbonara, I'm nearly sure it had Elmlea cream in it, it was stiff and the only taste to it was a bitter aftertaste, I couldn't eat it. Very small portion in a fancy bowl. One of the children had a pizza which was huge in contrast to an adults pizza which was not much bigger. I hate cheap ingredients and unfortunately the main courses were full of them. Very expensive garlic bread at £3.50 for a small portion. It was recommended to us but things must have changed from 2 years ago. People were smoking outside which was off putting. The Sticky Toffee pudding was extremely salty. Pity really

“Want the best pizzas? Here's the place to go”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

Visited on the 1st night of a holiday in Newlyn, had to vistit again before the holiday ended as we found that they do, without reservation, the most wonderful pizzas in an al-fresco setting - bit noisy, but the experience was more than worth it.

“Disappointing this year's visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

We have previously been very happy with previous meals here but this year's experience wasn't so good. There were 6 in our party and 3 were very happy with their meals but 3 of us were disappointed and the only response we got when we raised the issue was that staff would 'Tell the Chef'. Clumsy staff kept dropping cutlery etc when serving us and the 'Afogato coffee was simply a cup of coffee with a scoop of ice cream dropped in (literally dropped in as coffee had slopped into the saucer). We also had to close a window (on a warm night) as diners outside on the terrace are allowed to smoke and it was drifting in. A great pity because previous visits have been so good

“Great quality food at good price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2014 via mobile

I visited while on holiday in Penzance and decided to eat in Newlyn after a terrible meal at the Bakehouse, Penzance. The italian kitchen is a hidden gem and we had a gorgeous meal which would out class many in Penzance town. I had an amazing smoked mackerel risotto and a baked cheese cake to follow and it was divine. Highly recommended.
