Visited twice during December 2012 and impressed both times. The food is very good and the milkshakes and smoothies were just awesome, especially after not having had anything along those lines for 3 weeks. Bit of an oasis compared to anywhere else we came across. Wireless wasn't working on second visit which was a disappointment. Otherwise it was a great place to sit, catch up on the journal, plan a few phases ahead and consume.

We visited everyday for 2 weeks and we were never disappointed. The menu is great, the food reasonably priced and good quality. Add to that the fact that the staff have disabilities, the adjoining shop (with crafts made in-house) is wonderful and you have the perfect place to visit if you are in or near to Iringa. Lovely balcony to watch the world go by. Real coffee!!!!! Chocolate brownies - what more can you ask for?

The cafe was lovely, the staff we excellent and the food was great. It's such a unique place and you will hardly find anywhere like this in most of East Africa. We had a lovely table on the balcony and the different way or ordering (by writing your order on paper because all the staff are deaf) was new and fun! We are planning to go back for lunch next week already!

The restaurant and the attached craft center provide a fair wage and excellent working environment for the staff, most of whom are deaf. You write down your order on a card, which the waiter collects, and voila. Excellent service and an incredible, altruistic idea. The wireless is supposed to be reasonable, and the coffee was good. The craft center downstairs has a few cute items as well.
The food upstairs, unfortunately, doesn't live up to expectations. Out of the 6 dishes the four of us ordered in the two trips we made, only two of them were worth finishing. If you're coming for a snack, to sit and work or enjoy the setting--great. If you're hungry and want something other than coconut curry, I'd advise you check somewhere else.

I spent 3 days in Iringa and every day I went to Neema Crafts Restaurant for 2 reasons.
1) the coffee was the best in Iringa
2) the staff was incredible

I sat down in the Restaurant and the boy that came to the table was 100% deaf. My friend ordered by pointing at a menu item. I signed my order and the boy was shocked and thrilled. But his smile lit up the restaurant as did everyone's that worked there.

This place is worth the trip from Dar es Salaam even if you only go for 1 day. If you take the bus, you pass right through one of the Parks (would cost you a fortune by Safari) both directions I saw elephants and giraffes.
