“PERFECT DESTINATION AWAY FROM THE CITY”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

The overall experience was quite pleasant. The hotel was in the midst of the desert with all the bells and whistles one could imagine. The cleanliness was nothing short of phenomenal and the staff was courteous yet prompts in service.

Pool of the hotel, though small, still very enjoyable due to the view of the desert from it, it gives you a feeling as if you are swimming in the open desert.

Staying in this hotel literally means you would have all the meals in the hotel since there are no restaurants in the vicinity. As far as the restaurant’s the hotel are concerned, they are good in term of quality but lack of variety,

All in all, the stay proved to be tranquil and serene and we had great fun on the trip.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms on ground floor are pool facing and have got private pool beds

Nice hotel in nice location, a long drive from abu dhabi, but very peaceful once you arrive, we arrived in the middle of a sand storm and was told that we could not use the pool, you can imagine that went down well with the 4 kids I was with, in the end we were asked to sign a disclaimer saying that we took full responsibility for our children, mmmmmm yes since the day they were born and till the day I die, but anyway sand storm blow over and we had a very nice stay, food was good and better than I expected, rooms were clean and tidy and service was good.

I apologize for the inconvenient with the temporarily closing of the pool. When there is a sand storm, it is not desirable to use the pool as the wind speed can be very hard and sometimes can carry sun lounges from their places. Since we can’t take any risk with our guests, we request our guests to empty the pool. Normally the storm doesn’t take long and guests are able to use the pool after ½-1 hour later.

Once again, thank you very much and we look forward for welcoming you back at Tilal Liwa Hotel soon.

Kind Regards,

We arrived there in the afternoon during Ramadan so it was relatively quiet. The room is nice, nothing too fancy or luxurious though (bear in mind that this is a4-stars hotel but to be hobest, it is better than many 5-star ones I've been to..).
The swimming pool is nice but kinda small especially as it gets crowded with kids. It is an infinity pool overlooking the dunes so it's relaxing to linger there and watch (again, when the kids are not around). The thing I liked best about the swimming pool area is that they have hammocks nearby on the grass-- very relaxing to enjoy a good book.
Dinner at the restaurant was below avarage. The staff were no so friendly and the waiter gave us the worst table to sit on (literally inside a TV that was on loud bolume). We asked to change our place to which he said he can't let us sit anywhere else cz this was the only table for 2!!! Not like it was crowded with families and groups of 4+ anyway, there was hardly anyone when we arrived.
The buffet seemed a little over-priced for what they were offeringand we weren't all that hungry so we went for a-la-carte instead. It tool forever (around 45 min) to bring our soup and salad! We ordered fisj and it was okay. Portions are good as well but again the waiter let us down when he did not ask us about our sides and assumed we wanted rice. However when we asked them to change it they left it for us annd brought extra baked potatoes--nice!
Breakfast wasn't great either. The food looked more like legt-overs from the previous night's dinner (veggies were pale, hommus was old and dry) and the variety wasn't great. Service was as slow as usual..
Upon checkout they gave us 2 bottles of water, nice gesture!
It's a nice place and I think is your only option if you want to visit Liwa but keep in mind that it's around a 30-min drive from any civilization so stock up on water and snacks on your way from Madinat Zayed.

I don't really have any complaints about this hotel. It's a decent 4-star place with clean and comfortable rooms, a nice pool and grounds and decent food. We ate in the main restaurant and the food was better than expected with good service. We wanted to sit in the bar afterwards but it was too small and there was nowhere for us to sit! The breakfast spread was good as well, but they were too slow at refilling empty dishes which was dissappointing as if you wanted it wasn't re-stocked until we'd already finished. The location is OK, not too far from the main road and the view from the pool with a great view of the dunes. However - if the hotel is reading this, why do you have the quad bikes RIGHT in front of the pool where people are trying to relax!? And why not tidy up the ugly posts that spoil the desert view? Completely spoils the ambience and a shame as it could be perfect!

Dear Sir, Madam,
Thank you very much for staying with us and for taking the time in writing us your suggestions.

We are constantly checking on areas of improvement and your valuable feedback will not only help us upgrade our services but will also makes us meets our guests’ expectations.

We’re delight that you liked the Hotel and the food. However we regret to hear that the refilling process of some dishes didn’t go as fast as expected. We have taken the needed action and discussed with the Kitchen colleagues to pay more attention for refilling dishes.

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience for the limited places in the Bar. During the Holy month of Ramadan, our main Bar was closed and there for we’ve created a small space to still be able to serve our non-Muslim guests. After the holly month, the main Bar is back in operation with Daily live music.

We fully realize that the main view from the pool to the desert is a unique experience for our guests and it is our selling brand. We try always to keep it clean and tidy. Main challenge is that we’re in the middle of the desert and we face many storms and wind.

Once again, thank you very much and we look forward for welcoming you back at Tilal Liwa
Hotel soon.

Wonderful place to get away from it all, very, very relaxing, quiet and isolated in the middle of the desert. The Tilal went the extra mile to make the stay enjoyable, with rose petals strewn everywhere for their romance package and a nice bottle of bubbly on ice. Some of the staff was a bit green and the gym equipment was out of date, but I really enjoyed my desert stay. I would like to come back when the weather is cooler. One thing I would recommend is to DEFINITELY take a map of the area when LEAVING the hotel. Getting to the hotel is easy enough and is well sign poseted, but getting back to the highway proved to be a major undertaking.

The hotel was perfect for our needs. It was calm and serene and we had a fabulous stay. We extended by one day as we couldn't bear to leave after only three nights. The three hundred and sixty degree access to desert views was amazing and we went for a wander in the early evening. We had interconnecting balcony rooms overlooking the pool which we thought were perhaps some of the best on offer. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. The evening housekeeping trolley was a nice extra. We stayed during Ramadan so perhaps the hotel was quieter than usual, which we liked although choice of food was a little restricted. Our children just loved being in the pool all day long, watching a bit of tv etc., but if you had kids that want loud and lively it's perhaps not the place. The breakfasts were sumptuous, and we ate the buffet dinner for the four nights we were here. Highly recommend if you like stunning scenery, peace and tranquility and don't mind being confined to a single hotel, as nothing else around.

Room Tip: Consider what view you want. We. Loved our choice room 240 and 242, far enough away from pool not to...

This was another livingsocial voucher so seemed pretty good value for money. We fancied a quick weekend break away and the photos on the website looked quite nice. Our room was nice - it was a garden room so we had patio doors that opened directly out onto the grass and pool area. The bathroom was very nice and the toiletries provided were lovely. We had dinner included with our voucher but the buffet provided wasn't of particularly good food, especially compared to the normal high standard of food in Dubai and the emirates. The pool area was ok but service for poolside drinks was very slow and I had to go and find someone to take our order, which took a while as the outside area was virtually deserted by all staff!
There was no real ambience in this hotel. It was very quiet, which some guests may like, but it was too "dead" and didn't really grab us in the way other desert resorts might. There's nothing to do except sunbathe, and nothing for miles and miles around, so there's no hope of going out to explore a different restaurant or anything. If you do choose this hotel, one night is all you'll need for a quick getaway. Anymore and you'll be crawling up the walls!

Room Tip: A garden room is nice
