This pub come restaurant is tucked away in the village of LLandenny 3 miles south of Raglan. More restaurant than pub nowadays has gained a good reputation for quality food. I'm not sure about what is value for money but the food is very good but not cheap. I live locally and and the Pub is known for its great food.

“very good Sunday dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Went there as a family of 6, grandparents through to grandchildren.
It was nicely decked out with Christmas tree and lovely Christmas wreaths etc. A roaring log fire gives the stone building both real and visual warmth.

All apart from one of my children had the Sunday lunch which was excellent. I had the Cauliflower soup (v good) and the Rib of Beef (asked for rare, arrived cooked to perfection). Plenty of excellent vegetables served on side dishes.

My daughter who chose 'off' the Sunday Lunch menu chose a Roast Pork Sandwich which looked fantastic and judging by the way it was devoured WAS fantastic (and certainly not a small sandwich, a meal in itself)

Ordered a Patagonian Pinot Noir at £21/bottle which was also very good.

This part of Wales really does have some excellent eating pubs now.

“Quite possibly the nicest lunch venue in Wales!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

I have been to this relaxed food orientated pub on numerous occasions for lunch. It is effortlessly stylish and relaxed. Happy with its own style and consistently turning out excellent food that is poles apart from standard pub fare whilst resisting the need to try to be gastro. Service was by a young lady who served with knowledge, speed and a smile despite looking after quite a few tables.

The place itself is large, but with plenty alcoves; duck egg blue walls, designer twigs in tubs, little plants in terracotta pots on tables, scrubbed pine and a fire with old leather sofas around it to peruse the menu. It could be chic that has dated to some, but to me it is rather lovely.

Food is not cheap, but is certainly not expensive for what it is. I had a cauliflower soup with a big blob of parmesan and creme fraiche hiding in the middle, which was deeply flavoured and nourishing, although a bit less cream might have been an idea. It takes a lot to get me to even think of ordering soup in a restaurant. My friend has a delicious parfait. For mains she had confit pork and I had sausages with mash and onion gravy. Both excellent dishes. No room for puds, which was sad as they looked lovely!

Overall a relaxed and highly enjoyable experience. Recommended.

“Gorgeous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

Ate here last night and I love the place. From the soggy leather sofas in front of the open fire, to the rustic furniture and excellent food.

Our main courses were 1) roast turbot, scallops and crab ravioli and 2) lamb 4 ways, roast rump, slow roasted herb crusted breast, kidneys and a mini burger.

The only downside was the cost, £80 for two, including three glasses of wine.

Visiting raglan castle and found this place on the web . Put it into the sat nav and spent 15min driving along country lanes , but the post code is right . Much easier to get from raglan town it's self . Great food in a formal but relaxed setting our kids are b/w 4 and 10 and had a fab time . Chef put on a meal just for them, we had a meal as good as any top London Gaff could do . 5 happy customers for£ 60 . Go do it.
