The evening starts off with a fossil display and an interesting video presentation narrated by Jurg in a humourous and educational way. All ages can understand and our 12yr old son had a few good laughs. Tip: Dress warmly! We viewed Jupiter, Saturn, Jewel box, a very bright star and a cluster. Saturn was amazing, you see the circle around the planet very clearly. We had open clear skies and saw a few shooting stars too.

My husband and daughter (13 years old) love stargazing in the northern hemisphere so we went here for them to have the chance to see the stars in the southern hemisphere too. It was enjoyable but a lot of the information was stars in general so a repeat of information they already knew. The conversation about the Southern Cross and how to find the South Pole were really interesting though.

Our experience was also hampered by the almost full moon. That wasn't Jurg's fault though since we chose the date. But it is something for people to keep in mind that the fuller the moon the harder it will be to see the sky in its full glory.

Also, be aware that when Jurg warns about it being cold, take him seriously. We were fairly well prepared but still ended up leaving about 15 minutes early because my daughter's toes were numb.

Jurg is an enthusiastic, entertaining, interesting and kind host. This is an unpretentious, authentic and creative experience. So exciting to see the planets, the stars, the constellations, and to learn so much about them. Thank you for a very special experience. We will be back!

Telescopes have only 100 magnification, disappointing. The guys good and helpful but 49 mins is enough.

I am sorry that you are disappointed. Some people cannot get enough of the viewing. Even if the SALT telescope looks at a star, it will still remain a dot as the object is light years away. A 1000 magnification will make the objects hazy with lots of distortion. With a magnification of 100 one can observe objects 30 million light years away and describe it in detail to you.
One always want to see color pictures the way we are spoilt with images of the Hubble telescope but here on earth, we must come to terms to what you are able to see.

We had to pay cash and there was no receipt. We were quite a large group and all 5 telescopes were calibrated to accommodate all of us. Unfortunately the mist spoiled our view after an hour , however we did learn and see Jupiter and Saturn clearly. Worth it but I do think a bit expensive for what you get.

I gave you my best as I always do but when Mother Nature moves in, we cannot be cross with her. If you asked me for a receipt, I would have done it with pleasure.
