Owner description: Everyone has a dream. Jose Paronella’s dream became a reality. On 5 Hectares beside Mena Creek Falls he built his castle, picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, a tunnel, and wrapped it up in an amazing range of 7,500 tropical plants and trees. He even harnessed the waterfall for his electricity. It opened to the public in 1935.Today, visitors to the park marvel at the achievements of one man. Admission to Paronella Park is valid for 24 months and covers all of the tours (a 45 minute guided walk that explains this extraordinary story & takes you through the highlights, the stunning Darkness Falls Tour where the castles and waterfall are flood-lit to allow for amazing photo opportunities, and the hydro tour, giving you an in-depth look at the hydro electricity system that harnesses the power of the waterfall to provide the electricity for the whole Park). Admission also includes a souvenir guide book, fish food for feeding our resident fish and turtles, a bookmark, as well as a site for one night in the adjacent van park.

I went with my family to Paronella Park. It is just beautiful, and unexpected. I had heard good things but I didn`t realise just how good it is!! From the start as soon as we pulled up staff came to the car friendly and very helpful. We felt very welcome straight away.
The tour was very organised, incredibly interesting and a must do for people travelling past Innisfail or even living nearby!!
The grounds and buildings are stunning and we loved wandering round after the tour to take photos and just take it all in. I can see why people would want to get married here!!
we didn`t get the chance to see the night tour but... on departure we were given tickets to return anytime in the next 2 years for free! Including the camp site! We will be returning to see the night time tour. Also some renovations are being made soon so it will be great to see some areas rebuilt to their former glory.
Big thankyou to the Paronella crew=)

Thanks for the positive review!

I'm really pleased that your visit was enjoyable, and that you're already planning to get back to experience the night tour.

Thanks again!

Mark, the owner met us in the car park and is the most enthusiastic person, we knew we were in for a special day. Our guide, Angie, was delightful and told the story of the Paronella's with great enthusiasm. To restore this place after floods and cyclones is an ongoing battle against mother nature. I would recommend it to anyone who has every had a seemingly impossible dream as it will restore your faith to go for it. Well done to all at Paronella Park - we'll be back one day.

I came here 5 years ago and we didn't need umbrellas back then, I was so surprised at the invasion of bats, but it was a wonderful experience again. We booked into one of their cabins so we could do the night tour with a guide, the night tour is fantastic, beautiful and well worth doing. The cabins are small, just a bed, tv, bar fridge and coffee stuff, not enough room to swing a bat around in otherwise. Had a great nights sleep though and did a self guided tour of the property in the morning, we loved it and would do it the same way if we are up there in the future.

We had heard a lot about this place and have finally visited. We had a guided tour and our guide, Patrick, was great. He told the story of the park with enthusiasm and passion. It was easy to imagine how the place was in its hey day. The owners would like to restore the ballroom and we hope it happens and would love to come back to see it. Called into the pub afterwards and had a chat with the owners who own the park as well. The food looked good, pity we had eaten earlier. Well worth the trip.

After Paronella Park was featured on a tv show not too long ago we decided to put it on the route of our QLD road trip. We were unpleasantly surprised by the entry fee of $40 p.p.. The fee included a guided tour so we decided to go ahead with it. The park itself was beautiful but small and the story told by the tour guide was a near litteral copy of what we had read in the brochure during our wait.

The park itself is lovely. The story is lovely. The entry fee.. not so much.

Thank you for visiting Paronella Park, and for sharing your experience with others there.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the Park and the story behind its creation.

Regarding price, we'd love to be able to charge less but it simply would not be possible. The admission fee charged is one that allows us to cover our operating costs and remain a viable business.

Also, the story printed in our Guide Book & Map is a condensed version of what is told during the 45 minute guided tour. The idea was just to provide the basics in print, and have the guide present the whole story with all the interesting details during the guided tour.

Thanks again for visiting, and for your review.
