Owner description: Everyone has a dream. José Paronella’s dream became a reality. On 5 Hectares beside Mena Creek Falls he built his castle, picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, a tunnel, and wrapped it up in an amazing range of 7,500 tropical plants and trees. He even harnessed the waterfall for his electricity. It opened to the public in 1935.Today, visitors to the park marvel at the achievements of one man. Admission to Paronella Park is valid for 12 months and covers all of the tours (a 45 minute guided walk that explains this extraordinary story & takes you through the highlights as well as the stunning Darkness Falls Tour where the castles and waterfall are flood-lit to allow for amazing photo opportunities). Admission also includes the souvenir guide book, fish food, umbrellas, access to the online photo gallery as well as a site for one night in the adjacent van park.

“Impressive! Must do!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

This is absolutely #1 must do of Queensland! Beautiful park, with an amazing waterfall, beautiful nature and amazing acient buildings still remanning covered up in rainforest during the years. The entrance includes a guided tour, a guided night tour with amazing glow in the dark mushrooms and fireflys! a free camping site witch makes it two days you can spend in the park! Despite of the rain we had it was great, everything was amazingly green! And I certainly would go back, to see how this amazing place looks on a sunny day.
Definitely worth visiting, no mather what weather ;)

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

We often say that Paronella Park is at its very best during, or just after rain!

Thanks again.

“Just wonderful!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

We weren't sure about coming here at fist, since it's a short way of Bruce Hwy and ended up staying for 1 1/2 days. We camped overnight and did an afternoon tour and a night tour. Finding out about Paronella Park and it's history was just a wonderful experience. We are so glad that we came here. We definately left inspired and want to come back to this place one day. Thank you so much for this great experience Mark, Judy and the entire staff!!!

“Undecided”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

After all the build up I had heard about this place I finally got the opportunity to go. I must be seeing something different to what others are seeing.
Yes, it was an interesting story but the story ends there. The guide tried to sound exciting about the parks history and refurbishment but did not have the same passion as the owner.
It's going to need a lot of $38 entry fees to get this park tidied up. Don't get me wrong, I did find it interesting but not to the stage I would go back again(even with 2yr return).
I am glad I saw it though.Voted "One"of the must do's"in Qld is a bit much. Some vey nice photography but overall a let down.

“HIGHLY RECOMMENDED EVEN ON A WET DAY!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

We were greeted by a lovely cheerful lady in the car park. Which was nice but not really necessary. It was pouring down rain and she advised that the rain would probably lift soon and advised when the next tour was and suggested that we have a cuppa while waiting for the tour. They provide complimentary water and umbrellas, which was a great asset, seeing we hadn't packed any and it was teaming down. I thought the staff were very professional and well organised and our guide was very interesting and knowledgeable. The park has had a very interesting and colorful history and a few ups and downs, but our family really enjoyed the grounds, the buildings, the bats, the turtles, the crocodile, even though we didn't sight it and found the place fascinating. The park is open in wet and dry conditions, which we also liked, so if it is raining still go, they are prepared for all weather conditions.

Thank you for your review!

I particularly enjoyed reading your comments regarding wet weather. As you suggested, we operate regardless of the rain, we supply umbrellas, and many of our visitors feel that the Park is at its very best in the wet weather!

Thanks once again for visiting, and for sharing your experience here.
