It is a Paradise, a great place to camp in the mountain while having beach right there.

I preffer to stay in Arrecifes because they have all the needed ammenities, fairly clean bathrooms and showers and 2 options of restaurants.

A bad thing, you have to be prepared to walk a lot in order to be able to swim because from arrecifes, there is always a 1hr walk (one way) to the best beaches.

If you get there don´t forget to stop by "El Palacio de la Arepa" at la Piscina and buy one "Arepa'e'Huevo" and also stop by "La Panaderia" which is by the arrecifes beach, there order a "Pan de Chocolate" or "Pan de Bocadillo con Queso". Just amazing!

Be prepared for a Natural Scape and enjoy the scenary!

Wow. We are pretty jaded snorkelers who have been to the Great Barrier Reef, Sulawesi, Belize, and blah blah blah so we've found most of the snorkeling in Columbia pretty ho-hum. BUT La Playa Cinta in el Parque was the big exception. The snorkeling was not the best on the planet but the setting was absolutely amazing and well worth the effort of getting there. We we the only non-locals on the whole, beautiful beach and the entire experience of being in such a gorgeous place all by ourselves was the high point of our 3+ weeks in Columbia.

It's worth noting that one of our masks leaked, it was rented at Taranga, but we managed anyway since the water was so clear and calm. We always check rental equipment carefully but this small hole in the mask escaped our inspection. (Most of the equipment in Taranga is pretty crummy.) Anyway, the trip was well worth it and we had a great time.

This park is one of the more beautiful paradisiac beaches i have ever been to. When you get to Cabo San Juan you immidiatelly feel you are in a pariadisiac island (although it is not an island). Every beach around cabo san juan is more beautiful tan the other, although the sea around January can become extremely dangerous, so be careful when you want to swim, don't go to far from the beach.

The climate is perfect, sunny of the day and kind of chilly in the night.

We went camping, if you want to camp i recommend to take your own tent with a lock to leave it during the day.
We took a great spot beneath a tree so during the day the tent didn´t get all hot.

The bathrooms are in a deplorable state so that was the worst thing, there are 4 restrooms as well as 4 showers, so please take your own toilet paper, and shower at 7 am and 3/4pm. at other ours you'll have to make long lines.
The showers are really ugly and full of fungus, take flip flops and try to stay as far awaw from the "shoer curtains" more like plastic wraping put there, but still when you shower you can see you 4 other neighbours taking a shower... so whatever, shower with your bathing suit and you'll be alright.

These plan is more for people with adventourus spirit, but still i will add that i had a great experience, had lot's of fun and would definetivly do it again.

tayrona its amazing! its wild, its beautiful, has everything of what you think you may find in a paradise. palms all over the place(pay attention when they fall, not to be your head where they will fall), enourmous rocks, a lot of crabs, birds, but also many hives of bees, snakes, fighter ants and so on. But its an unique experience, first of how much you will have to walk. If you are fat or you simply know that its not for you makinglong walks, then dont!
The thing that I really dislike about Tayrona is the price: the price for colombians is 14 000 pesos and for foreigners is more than 30 000 pesos. Everybody disagrees with that, but nobody does anything.
The most important, people! use repelents with 50% deet OR MORE! are so many mosquitos there... but I understood that between august-january are not so many, thanks to the breeze.
Enjoy Tayrona and stay there 3-4 days!

I am a big fan of trips that balance cultural activity with outdoors. When we were traveling in Colombia we divided our time between Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena and Tayrona National Park.

Tayrona was my favorite. We went horseback riding, hiking and swimming during the day and relaxed at night.

Definitely check it out and spend at least two nights.
