Our visit to Davao was short and wanted to see the best of Davao has to offer. Can Davao have a beach to boast? Having been to Boracay, El Nido, Coron, - we did not expect much. But we were not disappointed. From the city, we took about 15min ride to the designated resort jump off point at Sasa where we boarded their 1O-min boat shuttle to Paradise Resort Samal Island servicing 6am-5pm costing only P1O per person. We arrived around 7:3Oam just in time for a good breakfast of Davao Longganisa. They had various specialty coffee if you care for the gourmet kind,
Sadly, the water is strewn with trash as we approached the island, We were not disswayed from taking to the waters as floating boom protected the resort swim area. Maintenance personnel were busy netting debris from the water. The corals are beginning to thrive and growing community of fish swam around.
What I like at this resort is the availability of variety of good food, Their specialty was Paella - 3 kinds, at that - Valencia (Spanish), Negra (seafood using squid ink), Marisco. We got for lunch the Paella Negra, small size it says good for 2-3 but for the four of us, we finished only half of it. as we also had pork sisig - Davao style and pinakbet, Food prices is a bit pricey for a resort averaging from P2OO-35O though you can expect the serving to be usually good for 2 people.
Other than the fine white sand (though I think this beach was covered from sand elsewhere), the beach can be enjoyed using the kayak, paddle boat, bicycle boat, floaters. We found the resort to have many to offer in case one gets tired of the water - table tennis, billiard, darts, volleyball, etc.
For daytrip guests like us, the restaurant dining area with table/lounging chair is available just beside the beach. Guests can bring their food who are ushered to special dining area also fronting the beach. Entrance fee of P15O with additional P5O as consumable amount that can be used for drinks, food, rentals of their equipment.
The place is very well maintained, with their more than adequate resort personnel. I commend their courteous personnel who smiled and attended to us promptly.
I think i would stay in this resort if I had some days to spare next time I visit Davao instead of a hotel.
