Note that we have not stayed in any of the rooms as our party only availed of the day tour (we did not push to stay overnight since we were disappointed with everything) and we only used few of the facilities. And while I may have given this resort a low rating, I will not pass up the chance to go back here (and stay overnight), but probably when it is more than "halfway through development" (as stated on the website) in a few years.

Travel (3/5): From downtown Davao City it took about 30-45 mins to Sasa wharf, and since it was a Saturday the port was packed and took us ~1 hr to get aboard a ferry. Ferry ride lasted ~15 mins. From the terminal, we turned left and drove straight ahead for ~10 kms until we saw a *small* sign (which we almost missed since the 'WELCOME' was 20x larger than the 'Secdea Resort') where we were supposed to turn right. From that corner to Secdea took another ~30 mins, mainly because the road was not paved and we were only using a sedan.

Resort (1.3/5): From the entrance another long drive down to where the main gate was. From the parking area we were greeted by the security guard, confirmed our reservation, and off we went to the restaurant area using one of their golf carts. We passed by the fishing pond and a couple of huts (no guests were there); to the left were the guest houses; and to the right was the Infinity Restaurant overlooking the pool and the sea.

* Restaurant (2/5): Food was so-so; but if your guests had to travel *that far* you better give them above average-tasting food and more choices. Only 1 glass of iced tea was included in the lunch buffet; beer and other drinks have to be bought at the bar. Also there were a lot of guests that day, and the only place that wasn't yet occupied consisted of a wooden slotted table a 2 wooden slotted benches.

* Pool (1/5): Only 4 feet at the deepest - good for lounging around but not for swimming (there was a separate kids' and babies' pool); can comfortably accommodate only 15 people but that weekend there were about 50 people at a time. Not the 'serene and calm' pool thing they are advertising (and we were expecting). But maybe at night it will be when the day tour people have left.

* Beach (1/5): Beach area was relatively large; we were there almost the whole day but the tide was out the entire time so we did not get to enjoy the beach. Guests can play volleyball, use the kayak and other rides (for a fee), but we did not bother anymore since we are way past the age for banana boat rides.

** Resort dog (5/5): Maybe the best thing in this resort was the fat bulldog roaming around, sniffing people's butts.

Went there on a Monday and the place is almost deserted that it feels like you've rented a private beach. The beach is breathtaking, with clear blue waters and white sand. There are also numerous attractions such as the mangrove walk and the fishing pond.

The resort is still under development though. There were many construction on-site but maybe in a year or so, the resort will look much nicer than it already is.

We've been calling this resort for a week just to reserve, all lines are answered with pabx, and we pressed all extensions from front desk, paid reservation, inquiry... very poor customer handling.

They should consider their customers from all over the Philippines, not just those living in Davao where they can go there are book and go back home. They should train their front desk staffs, this is where they earn.

I met my college classmate while in this resort, he is Davao based and he told me when he reserved for a room, the front desk told him to pay for it, if not, the reservation is cancelled. This happened on a Saturday, so he went to Secdea to pay for it and told me that their phone is always ringing and the staffs are not answering them... very poor staffs.

The rest of the service inside the resort and very good, i commend them.
Nice place to stay and relax.

Room Tip: any room is good. Hope you can contact their hotlines : )

I chose to stay in Secdea the last time I went to Davao because it was the talk of the town last December when I visited Samal Island.

The place was really nice and classy. I believe it is meant for tourists who will pay for exclusivity and luxury. Secdea is still undergoing a lot of developments and would still be fully-operational on 2016. The surroundings are clean, full of greens, and has the urban and rural kind of feel.
The villas are really nice with high ceilings. We had the seashell room which was good for (AND BIG ENOUGH!) for 3 persons. The room design was very minimal but it has the tropical yet modern kind of feel. The toilet and bath has separate doors.

They still need to improve their quality of service and the food being served in their restaurant. But the resort, their facilities are almost at par with the most luxurious in the country. They have a big area and can still be improved for the next 2 years.

Secdea is one of the finest beach resorts in Mindanao. It has fine white sands and calm waters. The breakwaters help guests to swim safely as the water is not too high for children. Cost is a little high for villas as it can accomodate exclusively a group of people. Everything is there already as if you're in a posh, hotel-like home while enjoying the beach and its infinity pool (colorful for night swimming). The guests can also enjoy wandering aroung the mangrove areas. The place is so serene and beautiful I can give five stars for this.

Room Tip: Reservations are advisable as villa rates go higher as lower-rate villas are usually taken already...

The resort was generally nice & peaceful if you don't mind some of the ongoing construction happening in the area.

Here are some in my opinion that they need to improve on:

1. There is NO water heater in the cottage where we stayed at. Water was freezing cold especially at night. Having hot water should be a standard at any resort

2. For a resort that is operational for only less than a year, some of its facilities are already broken of worn down.

3. Travel time from the port to the resort proper is around 20mins via public road & dirt/ rough road and the only mode of transportation available if you're not booking their hotel van are motorcycles which can only accommodate one person per cycle. This is not just dangerous but also inconvenient especially if you have a lot of stuff. You can bring your own vehicle but we all know it's not an available option for out-of-town foreign/ local tourists.

The hotel offers a pickup service that costs 2,000.00PHP of 45.00USD for round-trip transfers.

4. They charge for everything there including the use of pool towels and extra service charge for room service (not even a welcome drink of complimentary water).

5. Most of the food in their menu are not available or the staff does not know anything about it. One good thing though is that their staff was very friendly during our stay

6. Make sure you check everything before paying for your bill. We were almost charged double and some of the orders of the other guests were billed to our account. They quickly fixed it though and we commend them for that

This is a new resort I suggest one should visit when in San Isidro, Island Garden City of Samal.
It’s a 56hectare resort. It is approximately a 40 minute drive from Babak wharf to the resort. It is not yet fully done as I learned from the staff that more facilities and amenities will be constructed. A golf course and a marina is what I heard will be added soon. Secdea is another paradise in the making. There’s an infinity pool, floating cottages, clubhouse, multi-sports pavilion, mangrove walk, nice and comfortable luxurious cottages for those who would like to stay longer than a day tour. Furniture are excellently designed and everything there is planned to give their visitors an ambiance of a paradise by the sea.
Secdea is another world-class resort to watch in the arena of travel and leisure. Amenities and facilities were appropriately designed by able men complementing the wonders God has given, clean clear waters surrounded by cool greens of the island. Staffs are polite and the chef that prepared the buffet for us made sure we were satisfied with the food .He prepared native Filipino food for our breakfast, mixed Asian food for lunch and for our afternoon snack, we had 4 different Italian pasta to choose from. Food is served buffet style and we enjoyed the unlimited “halo-halo.”
