Note that we have not stayed in any of the rooms as our party only availed of the day tour (we did not push to stay overnight since we were disappointed with everything) and we only used few of the facilities. And while I may have given this resort a low rating, I will not pass up the chance to go back here (and stay overnight), but probably when it is more than "halfway through development" (as stated on the website) in a few years.
Travel (3/5): From downtown Davao City it took about 30-45 mins to Sasa wharf, and since it was a Saturday the port was packed and took us ~1 hr to get aboard a ferry. Ferry ride lasted ~15 mins. From the terminal, we turned left and drove straight ahead for ~10 kms until we saw a *small* sign (which we almost missed since the 'WELCOME' was 20x larger than the 'Secdea Resort') where we were supposed to turn right. From that corner to Secdea took another ~30 mins, mainly because the road was not paved and we were only using a sedan.
Resort (1.3/5): From the entrance another long drive down to where the main gate was. From the parking area we were greeted by the security guard, confirmed our reservation, and off we went to the restaurant area using one of their golf carts. We passed by the fishing pond and a couple of huts (no guests were there); to the left were the guest houses; and to the right was the Infinity Restaurant overlooking the pool and the sea.
* Restaurant (2/5): Food was so-so; but if your guests had to travel *that far* you better give them above average-tasting food and more choices. Only 1 glass of iced tea was included in the lunch buffet; beer and other drinks have to be bought at the bar. Also there were a lot of guests that day, and the only place that wasn't yet occupied consisted of a wooden slotted table a 2 wooden slotted benches.
* Pool (1/5): Only 4 feet at the deepest - good for lounging around but not for swimming (there was a separate kids' and babies' pool); can comfortably accommodate only 15 people but that weekend there were about 50 people at a time. Not the 'serene and calm' pool thing they are advertising (and we were expecting). But maybe at night it will be when the day tour people have left.
* Beach (1/5): Beach area was relatively large; we were there almost the whole day but the tide was out the entire time so we did not get to enjoy the beach. Guests can play volleyball, use the kayak and other rides (for a fee), but we did not bother anymore since we are way past the age for banana boat rides.
** Resort dog (5/5): Maybe the best thing in this resort was the fat bulldog roaming around, sniffing people's butts.
