I hope it's not too late in writing this review for those planning to go to Samal Island, Davao.
We had an overnight stay here at Island French Resort on October 17, 2013 check-out date October 18 with two of my travel buddies. I would say that I should be thankful to a Hotel Booking site for I was able to find this beautiful place.
Location wise, for me it's not bad being 45 minutes to an hour away from the city of Davao (it depends on the volume of traffic though). We rode a cab going to the Port for a 10-15 minute Ferry ride and from there we were fetch by hotel crew via single motor (habal) for free. The resort is about 20
-35 minutes away from the port and the ride, indeed was totally cool!
The Hotel is owned by couples Ms. Sonia (Filipina) and sir Jacque (French). This is a private type resort and since it is new, currently, they only have 6 rooms and as what was told by nanay Fe (a friendly staff), the couple are planning to expand the resort in the nearer future.
It was superb! My friends and I were very happy because we've made a right choice. We've maximized our time during our stay; the Hotel/Resort is close to Monfort Bat Sanctuary and approximately 45 mins to Hagimit Falls. It is also conveniently located to other local store as well as Market.
The hotel staffs and the owner of the hotel itself was very friendly and accommodating. Infact, sir Jacque, personally took photos for us upon arrival. A welcome drinks was served.
Nanay Fe showed us our room that was very impressive even if it was small. Two super comfy single bed with soft linens and comforter. It has complete room amenities such as 3 towels (for each person), shampoo, soap and bottled water. They have nice interior design and the white paint on the wall made each room looks more elegant and clean. There's a Balcony outside the room and as you walk away, you'll see the beach. Perfect time to go there when sun is about to set while playing with Genius the friendly dog. They also have few birds at the main entrance and a free tour at Vanishing Island
I sure will 100% recommend this to those people who wanted to find sometime to just sit back, relax and forget about the busy life in Manila.
