The place is indeed a paradise. Staffs were accomodating, friendly and always wearing smiles.
Breakfast buffet has a lot of choices and all the food tastes great. We also grabbed the dinner buffet for 950 per person. It was pricey but worth it. The infinity pool was magnificent, especially at night. The other pool with jacuzzi at Mandaya house was a perfect option to stay at in the afternoon while the day tour people are busy with the infinity pool.

The white sand beach at Malipano island is inviting, though we weren't able to swim longer because the beach was too salty, it was hurting our eyes.

Pearl Farm is perfect for couples and families. Take note, this is not a beach party paradise like Boracay. This is for people hungry for a relaxing and soothing vacation. Though they also have a mini bar on top of their Parola. It's perfect to visit the Parola bar during sunset where they also offer 50% off on their alcoholic beverages. Wifi is good at Parola and Maranao restaurant.

We stayed at Samal House, their over the water cottages. We were surprised how beautiful and how big our bed was. The only negative side was the limited supply of hot shower. You can only use hot shower for about 15 minutes then it wont work already. I called the front desk and told them about this and they told me to wait for another 15 minutes because their hot water tank is a bit small. But overall, who wouldn't enjoy waking up to the sound of the waves, hearing the chirping of birds and be greeted by the beautiful sunrise glaring magnificently to the island's beauty that is Pearl Farm.

If you're looking for a short vacation just to get away from it all, pearl farm is a mere one -hour ferry ride from davao city and when you get there you feel instantly relaxed, like you've been transported to an isolated world-class resort.
Amenities are complete, people arecorteous, and you really feel the hospitable spirit of the place the moment you dock. There are aqua sports available for rent at reasonable prices, don't forget to try the banana boat, jetski, and wake boarding. there apis a team of experts always on hand to help you out and assist.
Lunch was okay, but if you finish all the water activities and lunch by 1pm, there's another ferry to bring you back to the city for more shopping and nightlife. :)) davao has the best of both worlds really!!

Overall superb! We stayed in one of their samal houses, stilts in water. I recommend this room if you are an ocean lover. Each samal house has a balcony with an ocean view. The water is truly clean and fishes are all over. You can also snorkel just outside of your room. The rooms are spacious, very well maintained. The tv set is just small but its ok since you'll prefer to be in the pool and in the beaches. The infinity pool is very picture perfect with the parola as background. There is another island across the main resort, and you can go there for water sports like wake boarding, jetski, kayaking or just lounge on their beach. There are 3 beach shores & swimming pools  for different accommodations, and this will lessen the crowd for each pool and beach shore. But there is only one restaurant the Maranao restaurant which offers buffet for every meal or simply ala carte. Foods are definitely delicious and freshly cooked! Staffs are all courteous, very accommodating and approachable. No negative about their staffs. The beaches are all clean, swimmer friendly and no need for a snorkel gear to see the fishes. The experience in Pearl Farm is exceptional! A must stay resort!!

Pearl Farm Beach Resort

We enjoyed 5 nights at Pearl Farm. I will ignore the fact that our Mandaya villa was awaiting refurbishment and that each morning at 7:45 builders began banging in neighbouring villas until 5 p.m. However if you are staying during this August or early September 2012 you may want to avoid a room in this area!

Pearl Farm is in a very pleasant position on a small part of Samal Island. From the time you arrive at the wharf everything is taken care of. I am not sure why they need to search your luggage to make sure you are not taking food with you but I imagine they have their reasons. The boat journey takes about 45 minutes. After arrival there is a short explanation as to where things are on the island but after that we were confused as to where to go. We found our way to the Front Office and eventually some transport arrived.

It has to be said that the staff are extremely helpful and courteous at all times. If you ask the Front Desk for help they will ensure you get what you need. We reported there was no water in our bathroom at 11:30 p.m. and a plumber arrived within 5 minutes! As far as food is concerned breakfast gives a good choice for any nationality and is served from 6:30 – 10:00. There is an a-la-carte menu for lunch and for dinner you can order the buffet or use the menu. As you would expect most of the food is Asian but there is usually an option for International travellers. The highlight each evening for us were the different groups of musicians who played and sang. All were good and some were exceptional!

We never saw a mosquito while we were there and stopped using insect repellent on the second day!

There were several disappointing aspects to our stay. Mandaya bay has many rocks, the water is cloudy and it’s not worth trying to snorkel there. If you go over to the island there are no rocks but they need to remove all of the rubbish from the water for starters but there were only a few fish to see. Free snorkelling is best found from the sandy beach next to the Parola – head out towards the rope and to the right! If you want to spend PHP 40,000 you can have two hours with the guys on the island and see some great fish.

I did see staff throwing chemicals into the infinity pool late one night but both hotel pools are very cloudy. The water really needs changing or properly treating so it is clear. The free wi-fi in and around the Parola is a very hit and miss affair. Some days it was good but on other days you connected to their routers but there was no Internet signal. The only evening entertainment is a film advertised for 8:00 each night but it often starts early and on two nights it did not take place. The screen is square, open to the elements, is crumpled and needs replacing. It is also a bit difficult to concentrate of the soundtrack at times as the Security Guards intercom is constantly chattering loudly!

We loved sitting in one of the two thatched gazebos at Mandaya bay. The view out to sea was peaceful – especially when the day-trippers left in the afternoon.

Unlike many hotels the staff never hung about for tips – we had to hunt the room-boy down in order to give him something! The thing that most impressed us was the way our journey back to the airport was handled. We booked a taxi through reception and were met by a Pearl Farm agent as we arrived at Davao Airport. He had already obtained our tickets (I don’t know how he did this) and took us to the check-in desk and stayed with us right up until the time we went through the departure gates. Amazing service!

Pearl Farm is a good place to take a holiday but it is expensive for what it is!

Room Tip: If you are stayiing in Mandaya ask for a refurbished room!

This is a very nice resort, but it is very quiet and very subdued. I'm an American who was visiting Mindanao with my Filipina wife, and this resort was recommended to us by my sister-in-law. We needed to just get away from it all for a few days, and this place definitely fit the bill. Upon arrival, there is a dock where a boat leaves to take you to the actual resort on a seperate island, and it was kind of tough for our driver to find where the dock was, so you might be well advised to get good directions prior to departing. Anyway, once we made it to the dock, it was very nice. You check in, and there are clean bathrooms, refreshments, a gift shop etc. available for guests. The boat ride to the island where the resort is took about 30-40 minutes, but it was peaceful and calm. I feel I should point out, this is not a singles resort, there is not alot of action or activities going on here. It is definitely geared towards couples and newlyweds. There are a few pools to swim in, and there is a game room with chess, billiards, etc. There is a basketball court, a gift shop, massages (at an extra charge), and also some watersports available, but we didn't partake in the watersports. We stayed in "Samal 16", which was a private room on stilts that sat over the water (many of the rooms are like this). There was satellite TV, great air conditioning, and a very comfortable bed. The view from our room out over the bay was amazing, it was very romantic. You should take some bread from your meal and bring it back to the room, you can feed the fish rifht outside your room! There was a bar with some kareoke, and a buffet style meal was served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I thought the meals were just fine, with plenty of selection at each meal that should satisfy even the pickiest eater. I did make it a point to drink either bottled water or alcoholic drinks throughout my stay, some of the bottled water was free, and some of it I had to pay for. I think its worth it either way just to ensure a "comfortable" stay. The Philipino mangos were especially delicious, I ate many of them. All I can say to the men out there is, you should do the same, especially at a place like this. Since the activities here are minimal, aside from swimming, eating and sleeping, there will probably be alot of "activities" once you get back to your room, and the vitamin infusion from the mangos I think definitely gave me a BIG boost!

Room Tip: "Samal 16" was just fine with me!

We availed their day tour package and I guess it was all worth it. We were still provided with a room for our stuff and for resting. We had fun dipping in their infinity pool. Enjoyed their buffet lunch, most especially the desserts!

We enjoyed our stay there although only for a day we'd still love to go back whenever in Davao. :)

Location is fantastic. Food was very good. Water sports equipment was good but well used (ie: not new). Rooms are OK, but again well worn. Staff & service overall ranged from excellent to very poor. 5 star priced resort but providing 3 to 3.5 star resort service and facilities. Sadly needs upgrade to many facilities. Location is superb, but there are better value resorts available on Samal and Panglao. We were disappointed with what was advertised as available at Pearl Farm in contrast to what was actually available.
