We stayed here overnight coz before going here, we stayed in the city for two days already visiting crocodile farm, maxima aquafun, zipline and we also went white water rafting. So our stay here was for relaxation after so much activities for the past days. Upon arriving, we were given juice and was brought to our hilltop room (with beach view) using golf cart service. Service was great, from the reception to the bellboy. We had dinner at thei restaurant. They don't have much to choose from their ala carte and was a bit pricey. Their buffet spread was okay. Upon check out, we still haven't had enough of the resort so we left our luggage at the reception and we reserved slots for their last boat trip going back to the city, which i think was 4:30pm. The room was nice, bed was comfy, although im not impressed with their bathroom. It was kinda old and rusty, especially their shower head and the shower enclosure. I was expecting more from a 5 star resort which charges high. The balcony was nice, with beach view and view of the parola. I love their infinity pool! The view with parola as background was breathtaking. Hilltop room is near the infinity pool than their other expensive rooms. And the beach itself is nice, clean and well maintained, with white sands. So beautiful resort, i will definitely go back here.

Room Tip: If your going to stay in their hilltop room, make sure you request for a room with the beach view.

Every Filipino should go here at least once. Very nice resort and wonderful staff.

I stayed in Mandaya 3, rooms are big. Lcd tv, very cold and new ac, own veranda facing the beach, there is one pool near the Mandaya houses. You can leave the rooms while ac is open.

No problems with the golf cart service.

Food - very affordable and delicious. 300 to 500 php per meal. Not bad.

Swim with the fishes.

The resort offers a free film showing every night at the parola. Its nice to watch a movie by the beach.

My only problem here is they charge fees on non motorized activities such as kayak. 450 php.

Overall, i enjoyed the resort very much and will definitely come back.

It was supposed to be a pleasant 3 day stay. We loved our beach side Samal room. The buffet was good (breakfast and dinner). Good facilities and friendly staff, mostly. All this went down the drain before boarding the ferry back to Davao. We were called by from desk from the Parola and was asked to pay PHP5000++ for a stained bedsheet. We videos the whole thing. The bedsheet stain was obviously not fresh and looks like ink that has been washed. We were called back just as we were about to board the ferry, maybe to add pressure. We told them that we are going to post the vid in YouTube. And the front desk staff made a 180 degree and said they will do an investigation. We left without paying them. We were not informed of such policy. We're on the way to the Davao port now. Hopefully, they will not continue with the extortion at their Davao port.

Pearl Farm Beach Resort was a quiet resort where we spent 2-1/2 days relaxing, a 45-minute boat ride from Davao. Do not expect a resort like those at Boracay; this resort is away from any other resort or restaurants on Samal Island. There was no brochure about how the location got its name, but there are no pearl farms nearby. We stayed in one of the Samal houses set on pillars in the water (when we arrived in mid-afternoon, we were escorted to the little house but it had not been cleaned, so then had to go to another--the staff were helpful with this). The total cost was 21,000 pesos (525$ at ~40 pesos/$); this included transportation to the island, two buffet breakfasts (included in the room fee), and two optional buffet dinners, with live music. The food was uniformly excellent. However, you are a captured audience: there is only one open-air roofed restaurant available; no other places to eat. You can find some unusual foods there (fried milkfish, goat meat, specialty mangosteen jam, korean and japanese food delicacy). This is not a white sands beach resort; there is one small beach and much of the other sea-front is not swimmable. There are two pools; one is a pretty infinity pool, but when one sees babies without diapers playing in the pool with their parents, you make sure you do not swallow the water. Our room was simple but nice, and even had one clear morning view of Mt Apo (the highest peak in the Phillipines) out our window. We did not test the TV, WiFi, or the water sports; free bottled water is included in the rooms; no stores nearby to buy food; air conditioner worked fine. As in most of the non-USA world hotels, there is no washcloth supplied (bring your own microfiber one that dries quickly). The Samal houses are suspended right over the water, and twice we found live crabs in the toilet room. The staff were very polite and accommodating. There were very few westerners there, which can make it seem more exotic. There is supposed to be a running path but we did not see it and only found out about it from a map back at the Davao dock. There is a very tiny exercise room (above the pool table area) with one treadmill that we did not test. We did treat ourselves to a nice one-hour in-room massage (800 peso each). Again, this is not a "wild party" resort-- but a very nice place to relax for several days.

Pearl Farm Beach Resort is considered the top-of-the-line accommodation in Samal Island, Davao. It's 45 minutes from the mainland unlike the other island resorts, which take just 5 minutes. This location actually works in favor of Pearl Farm, since it's well away from crowds and the whole property was actually tailored so that guests can source everything they want and need right there.

AESTHETICS:
1. Samal is done in tasteful vernacular interior design and architecture. The resort was made by Filipino architect Francisco Manosa, which means you expect intricate native details on your rooms which showcase the unique Filipino culture. There is emphasis, of course, on the culture of Mindanao. It's fascinating to say the least.

2. Amenities and facilities are excellent. There are rooms on stilts; those located on top of a hill (which means you get a panoramic view of the nearby islands); and there are exclusive (read: pricey) suites located on nearby island Malipano. There are newly refurbished modern rooms as well. Each room is designed for the family in mind (most suites are multilevel. Typical suites have two levels--one contains the master bedroom, the other contains extra beds for the kids--all done tastefully. Really large glass windows too for beautiful views. I suggest you get the Samal Suites--the room whose facade was made to look like an eagle's head).

3. Staff are very courteous. Walk all around the resort and each member of the staff you meet along the way will greet you with a smile. It's a small gesture that goes a long way.

4. Food is great too. There's a wide selection of international as well as native cuisine to choose from. There's a cold cuts & sushi section as well. Every night, an acoustic band performs (when we were there, it was a family of singers who serenaded us).

5. The beach on the main resort is a bit short; the sand is coarse; but since you're hardly sharing it with anybody at any given time, it's bound to be a peaceful experience for you. You can take a dip at Malipano's beach too (the resort offers free transfers to the island every 30 minutes. It's just 3-5 minutes away). Kids can engage in fish feeding; you can rent kayaks too; When we were there they were testing a wakeboard facility in Malipano; and there's a shipwreck less than 60m from the shore which divers can have a look at.

6. They also have a spa but we haven't tried that. Average rates of treatments are P2,000.

Room Tip: Book the Samal Suites (just ask for the suites whose facade were tailored to look like an eagle'...

Me and my family stayed here in April and had a great time. This is my second visit to Pearl Farm. We stayed overnight at the Mandaya House. Although some of the amenities are old and needs repair, this is still a great place for relaxation. Staff are friendly! We love the pool next to the restaurant. It has a great sunset view! We'll come back!

Our visit to the Pearl Farm in Samal Island was excellent. Service and facilities were impressive - even starting from check-in at the Marina and throughout our stay. My husband enjoyed snorkelling in the very clean white beaches with plenty of fish, while my sons splashed around in the infinity pools. Buffet spread was delicious. An electronic cart was constantly available for those lazy to walk. Speedboat to the island across was also nice. Service by all the staff was impeccable! Really nothing to complain about. Since access to the resort is limited and strict, you do not feel any congestion unlike other resorts which may feel crowded. Easy to forget the world outside. Truly relaxing.
