Pearl Farm Beach Resort
Ranked #1 of 8 Hotels in Samal Island
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 22, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Pearl Farm Beach Resort in Samal Island, Davao City. It was the first weekend after New Year's. The beach was simply breathtaking, and it was really private - you need to take a 45-minute ferry boat ride from the city to the island resort. Everything was great , the food, the service, and the place. You can even view the Philippines' tallest volcano, Mt. Apo, from your room if you stay in one of the beachfront suites. Very nice. Very romantic. The only disappointing part of our vacation was we stayed only for a night,it just wasn't enough. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: book the samal rooms or the sunset suites

The staff were very friendly and the buffet lunch was amazing. I also enjoyed snorkelling here and seeing lots of pretty fish and starfish :D

The one thing annoyed me was the lack of towels. They ran out of towels and it took me over 2 hours to get one. I saw a few other people affected by that so you might wanna bring a towel just to be safe

i was quite surprised how good this place was compared to photos id seen on the net. Pity its next to davao (reminded me of a mexican slum) but most cities are polluted in the phils. This resort wreaks natural ambience and the food was beyond expectation ... well done to the chefs especially the lady that makes deserts! 10/10. did scuba diving and although water is a bit murky you can still see some brillant looking fish and the instructors are experience in calming u down for me first time nearly pulled out but glad i didnt. book on the net as its cheaper. Happy hour at the octagonal bar over the water is heaven and coctails were like 100 pesos. All the staff are happy and greet you as you walk past them, not like other resorts i have been in Phils were u see them spitting or staring at you.(Dakak Resort)
nice beach and star fish all around the place, pool was great as we listened to the singers in the dining room. only weak point was the cocktails had no kick. still i give this place 10/10 and would definately go back for one week.
The internet doesnt promote this place in its glory ..... but thats ok as it was a welcome surprise!

Room Tip: book on the net its cheaper.

My picture was taken at this resort January, last year, It is a combination of almost everything in nature, white beach, sea, hills and trees. The view, facilities and sevices are perfect; equalled by the warm welcome, friendliness and very accommodating staff.
We stayed at the cottage up hill because I am afraid to sleep at cottage near sea surface. The view up hill is fantastic!
The nice driver always insisted to give us a ride because he was so concerned of us getting exhausted, he was really nice! Those assigned at Pagoda oriented us with different kinds of fishes, day and night;Thank you so much! keep it up!

suggestions: Do not miss to watch the school of fishes at pagoda at night, and have a dip at Infinity pool, awesome!

Room Tip: If you will choose the cottages at the HIll top you will hear chirping of birds, but I guess cottage...

I was late for the last boat to the island and they had to send a boat just for me, when the staff told me it would cost me $150usd, I calmly said "no, that's unacceptable" the operator said please hold, within 5 seconds she came back and said no charge for the airport pickup or boat service. That made big points with me. The staff was extremely well trained and courteous. The location is so special and the food was great. I really liked the place bc they don't 'nickel and dime you to death' like some fancy resorts. It's mostly all included and you don't have to spend pesos for every little thing. Book through agoda, bc I noticed on their website our room was twice as much as I paid!

For those who likes to be away from city life it is the best place. They have several different type of rooms depending on budget. They are situated within the nature, 2 small size pools and an acceptable restaurant with variety of foods are available. They meet you at the airport and after 45 min boat ride you reach to the resort. I do not recommend for long stay but 3 to 4 days will be great
