“Fantastic diving...”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Just returned from an amazing trip to Bira, Sulawesi - Bira Divers is a new shop in the village and is expertly run by manager Chris and Rahman, an excellent local guide.
I've dived over 250 times around the world and Bira has some of the best diving I've ever seen - it rivals any live aboard going. We saw dozens of sharks, rays, turtles and the coral is phenomenally healthy - huge schools of fish and loads of nudibranchs with excellent visibility.
Chris was a fantastic host and arranged everything that I needed during the holiday - I couldn't recommend a trip to Bira more, and next time I'll splurge on Amatoa resort

“Great diving experience!”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I spent 6 days diving the waters around Bira in Southern Sulawesi. If you are looking for remote dive spots, with no other divers & great marine life, then it is worth checking out Bira. I work as a diving instructor in Bali, so was looking forward to diving somewhere new and away from the crowds. Bira did not disappoint. The walls off Kampoeng island were spectacular and possibly the best diving in the area. We saw a fair number of whitetips, as well as napoleons, turtles, leaf scorpionfish & lots of nudis. Bira also has a great house reef. The dive center is a new set up and very well run by Chris & his 2 DMs, Denny & Rahman. They have lots of experience in diving these waters & pay close attention to the tides when diving. On a safety note, the guides carry personal location devices, normally only found on top end liveaboards.
We had our own kit, which was washed & stored at the end of each day. Bira divers has a new resort planned for next year, which should be an exciting venture!
Thanks a lot guys for a great week!

“Great diving school”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

We took are Open Water Course at Bira Divers. Chris and his staff are very professional and helpfull, and we felt safe and at ease, even during times when we were a bit nervous about this whole new world of diving (oh.. that darn mask clearing).
We saw sharks, turtles and lots of other sea critters.
We're looking forward to explore more of the under water world, and Bira Divers was a good start, for sure!

“Great diving in Bira, with great guides!”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

The dive shop just opened, and offers great diving at great spots around Bira. We took four dives; the group size was very small: only the two of us together with a knowledgeable and experienced local guide (1st day Rahman and 2nd day Danny).

One point for improvement is the inventory of wetsuits; I had to wear a shorty as there was no XL long suit availble; luckily the temperature of the water was okay.

On the dives we saw white tipped reef sharks and lots of turtles and rays, so very exiting!
Overall highly recommended!

“amazing diving, great staff”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

In Bira I did my 80th dive and it was the best of all
Suberb marine life: clear water, sharks and turtles everywhere
Bira Divers had the best staff: very safe, very professional and very easy going.
They work with small groups (1 guide + 2 divers) and do most of the time driftdives (so it's really holiday!)
They also give personal advice about planning your trip and where to eat or sleep. Not because they make money out of it, but because they are enthousiastic and wish you the best.

I hope I will be visiting Bira very soon again.
