In mid July 2013 we stayed in Damai for 4 nights. This was fantastic. All the personnel was so helpful and professional. The atmosphere there was friendly and relaxing. We attended two tours and both the driver and the guide was very competent. The 2 rooms or houses we stayed in was designed in a beautiful mix of Bali and Japanese culture, with outdoor Jacuzzi. A walk in the garden was exciting and besides the beautiful look over the sea, you could enjoy all the vegetables and herbs that they were growing for use in the restaurant. The food was great and to dine by the pool side in the evening was amazing. For me and my 3 kids (ages 24-29) this was our first time at Damai but I am sure that we will return one day, hopefully soon.I will, at any time recommend Damai to family and friends.

We stayed as a family of five for 3 nights in July 2013 on a last minute offer. We therefore stayed in three different Villas, changing every day. Extremely friendly and helpful personnel. Beautiful garden with own production of fruit, herbs and vegetables. The restaurant serves excellent food which is priced as such.
Free shuttle to Lovina, but we enjoyed most meals at Damai, since the famous kitchen was a reason for us to stay there in the first place.
The pool Villas are fabulous! Gorgeous view to the sea from the sky view pool.
This is an exclusive and not cheap place, but fully living up to our expectations. Last night was spent in a family villa without private pool, but since it is close to the public pool, this was not a problem.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, the pool villas are the best.

I was doubting between a "very good" and "excellent" rating. Compared to the other places we stayed in Bali, ther were some minor remarks which made me end up with a "very good" rating after all.
- food is great (all times of the day). But... Waiting times appeared to be pretty unpredictable (one evening completely went out of control)
- location is great - very calm.
- rooms are spacious and well maintained - they are clean but the last step to precision is lacking
- spa treatment was according to expectations
As you see, the hotel pleased us and we would for sure go back being in Livona but there is a difference between very good and excellent ( for the price being paid)

First of all thank you for being so frank and honest about "How to rate Damai." We certainly understand every individual has their expectations, some more than others but we will strive to meet each and everyone's expectations to the best of our ability.
Just to add, our dinner is a fine dinning experience and products are made or processed at the kitchen. Not ready made products. At the time of your stay, it was high season and there were also many outside guests dining at the restaurant which caused this food to come out slow.
We certainly look forward to receive you again at Damai and we recommend that you travel during the regular or low season for better prices and offers.
Best Regards

After visiting several great hotels at Bali this one tops the list. It has a calm and professional atmosphere that support the guests in a discrete and not intruding way. The villa we stayed in had an iconic design like a combination of the Danish museum lousianna and old Japanese style housing.
Fantastic place to stay.
At the same time the restaurant had a very high quality. In fact we chose to eat there all evenings during our stay.
Because the quality of the kitchen is so high it is bad that they not chose to offer more Indonesia dishes.

All in all we visited 4 different hotels at Bali that had approximately the same price range.
This Hotel is the best

My wife and I had a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.
Food was 5*
Staff, loving and attentive
Spa treatments-unique and the best had so far
GM-made the difference!
Brought my laptop but did not open it.
The 3 hour drive to Damai and 2.5 hour drive back to Denpasar didn't matter.

I chose this secluded "off the beaten" path boutique hotel due to the great reviews I had read and we were not disappointed. After we had problems on the first day with the A/C leaking, we upgraded to a pool villa (although I thought that should have been complimentary due to the circumstances). The PRIVACY is incredible. I loved the pool and the outdoor bale pavilion was huge! Lots of relaxing time there. The spa staff were happy to come to our room for his/her treatments. We loved the flexibility in the breakfast service - in your room or at the restaurants any time. I had never experience this and we have been all over the world. The made from scratch pastries and condiments were delicious. The gardens were beautiful and were were happy to know that some of the ingredients were grown there. Although this hidden gem is quite a distance from the airport, it is well worth the extra travel time. The attention to detail is superior. We had the most memorable excursion to the falls with so many small local temples on the way. I never wanted to leave.......

Thank you for sharing this secluded luxury with trip advisor readers. On behalf of the staff and management of Damai, we thank you for staying at The Damai and this nice review.
The next time you visit Bali and wish to stay at Damai, I will certainly offer a special deal to compensate the missing complimentary upgrade.

We stayed in a pool villa and this is a great experience. The hotel is located in the hills so you have a fantastic view over both the forest and the sea. Dining is a great experience because of the high quality of the food (try the Balinese menu) and the view (book a table at the poolside). Staff couldn't be more friendly! Many thanks especially to Eka who took our young boys to see the hotel's farm. North of Bali is a good place to stay because it's far less crowded than more known places of Southern Bali. The Damai is highly recommended.
