Akar Restaurant in the North of Bali was the culinary highlight of Bali for us. Excellent food made from the finest ingredients.
We started with a Mediterranean platter consisting of home made humus, falafels, olives and the best bruschetta outside of Italy. For mains we had a 100% vegetarian delight ranging from lasagne, chili Bolognese, quiche lorraine, brinjal & cream cheese mops with cous cous and a salad with dressing so complex yet so simple in its tastes that we paid the chef something to include the dressing recipe with the bill.
The fresh organic juices were served with a generous side cravat of honey. Finally but most definitely not the least we had their home-made gelato ice-cream. My Husband had their golden waffels with ice cream. The staff were amazing and the atmosphere cosy, intimate and friendly.
We were seated on the back veranda next to the river. Only 80 meters away from the beach we were able to end off our wonderful lunch with a stroll on the beach. Needless to say - we were back for dinner that evening and breakfast the following morning. The owner, Justine also offers Yoga classes in the morning which makes this little gem the most rounded, wholesome special little restaurant in the whole of Bali. Yum!
