We're staying at Barnham Broom and The Bell was recommended to us in both the guest tips book in our room and the welcome meeting. We have just returned from our meal tonight and it was fantastic.
The homemade soup was delicious and the landlord was very obliging in providing bread and butter for our twins who didnt want to miss out !
Two of us had scampi and two had gammon. Both were delcious. A lovely side salad, not just limp lettuce and a slice of cucumber, freshly cooked peas that were lovely and green (instead of the pale-been-sat-in-the-pot stewed soggy ones we've had at other pubs!). And fab enormous chunky piping hot chips. The kids meals were great too, generous portions and all freshly cooked.
Puddings followed which were steaming hot and absolutely delicious.
Everything on the menu was so resonably priced, we have paid so much more in other pubs and its been nowhere near as nice or as generous in portion size.
Drinks were VERY well priced, unlike the bar we drank in the night before!
Lovely atmosphere too, we were made so welcome and didn't get "the look" from the locals you often get when visiting village pubs!
The children were catered for too with books, toys and games to hand and a miniature cue also materialised as soon as we set up a game of pool !
Finally, not something I'd usually write in a review, but this pub has the cleanest toilets I have ever used. Clean floor, clean tiles, plenty of loo roll, a baby change unit, nappy sacks, hand cream. I was so impressed, I just hand to mention !
Great night out, we will definately be recommending and will certainly return next time we come!
