It's a lovely setting and we enjoyed our stay. Our room was well appointed and well cared for. The bed was really comfortable. The service in the Sports Bar was friendly and alert. The view from there was grand. The food was good and promptly served in the Bar. We liked the sports vests signed by stars which were tastefully positioned. Breakfast was good. We didn't try the Restaurant for dinner.

Barnham Broom is in beautiful spot, close to Norwich and Wymondham. The golf course was very busy and the spa looked good, although I didn't try it. Unfortunately the rooms were very average. On the plus side the beds were large and very comfortable. However the bathrooms were a let down - mouldy tiles, grubby shower screen, some broken tiles on the side of the bath, very thin towels, poor toiletteries. The shower was hot and very powerful.
Breakfast was a help yourself cold buffet with a very good choice. I didn't have cooked but the plates coming out of the kitchen looked very good and everything was cooked to order.
It was a shame that the rooms let the hotel down

This was my second stay in as many months, but I'm afraid that depsite the most wonderful breakfasts, gorgeous setting and helpful staff. The disappinonting standards of cleanliness and shabby bathrooms spoiled our stay. We upgraded to an Executive Suite for 2 nights only to find 30 degree temperatures and the air conditioning wouldn't work-it was like being in a sauna. For our last night we had a 'family ' room which was tatty and the bathroom wasn't clean enough-hair in the bath and down the plug. Comfy beds tho !

Room Tip: Make sure you get one overlooking the golf course !

Stayed here with a group of friends for a Hen weekend. The website states "Escape from the stresses and strains of modern life to the peaceful tranquility of The Spa at Barnham Broom Hotel" so we had an expectation of changing into luxurious robes on arrival, and lounging around a pool relaxing, having treatments and generally chilling before dinner and our night out. However this hotel's Spa is not what I would equate with a proper Spa experience. To be fair I can't criticise the Spa treatments and rooms as these, and the therapists were lovely.

However the treatment rooms are on one side of the hotel, and the 'Leisure facilities' are on the other! After my lovely relaxing massage and facial, and feeling all warm and cosy I had to walk through reception where the doors were propped open, and consequently felt really cold. We sat in our robes in the lounge area of the hotel whilst a wedding took place in the room next to us. It's a very odd experience sitting there trying to relax in bathrobes and bikinis whilst a bride, and her guests in all their finery paraded past us - quite disconcerting.

After we had all finished our treatments we decided to go to the pool area, another walk through a bar full of people (again in dressing gowns!) along a corridor, past squash courts to a reception where we had to 'sign in and out' and were given towels. Down some steps into what felt like public changing rooms to the pool area, past the sauna and steam room (with an out of order sign on) to the tired looking pool with only 6 loungers squished alongside one window (there were 8 of us...!) and a few plastic chairs.

The pool was cold, the 'jacuzzi' which was off the pool area was also cool according to my friends, and the sauna room felt so hot, it burnt another friends face! The steam room was fixed whilst we were there, but there was quite an unpleasant smell in the whole area and didn't feel overly inviting. The only good point is that the pool area was lovely and warm, it's just a shame that the decor and surroundings were very 'public poolish' and overlooked by people working out in the gym above.

Hotel rooms here are bland, and the overall feel is tired, plus the fan in the bathroom was noisy even with the door closed. However on a positive note the beds were comfy with soft pillows and clean white linen. A nice feature is a duck with her ducklings in the inner courtyard which apparently returns each year - very cute.

Dinner was included in our deal and we were asked to pre-order. Starters were lovely, and our seabass main was also very tasty, but the chicken dish was overcooked and served dry. We asked for some sauce and were brought a gravy boat full of something resembling bisto! Dessert was a stodgy mousse, although to be fair we were asked for feedback as the table was cleared and we were told if the dish was no good they would consider removing from the menu if not popular. Our service at the table was excellent. The young man who served us was extremely pleasant and efficient and a bonus to the hotel. However it was not enough to persuade me to ever return or to recommend it to friends in Norfolk. Do your research and if you want a Spa experience find somewhere that offers the full package and not a half-hearted attempt!

Room Tip: Book a different hotel...

I stayed overnight with family for a spa weekend break. The rooms were fine clean and tidy but could do with updating. The swimming pool and spa was a let down. The water was cold and the water looked mucky. The jacuzzi had bits on the bottom of the floor when you sat down. The steam and the sauna were ok, a bit small but after sitting in for a couple of minutes started to get the smell from the drains. The treatment rooms were across the other side of the hotel so you had to get fully dressed to go for treatments. All in all the leisure side of it is not that good all needs updating and would not go there again for a spa weekend.
We had a meal on the Saturday night and was charged a service fee of £50 which we did not pay as the service was nothing special. They put two extra people on the bill hat had not arrived.
Nice time with family but would not go again.
