We are platinum members of the Marriott group.
We had our wedding here in December.

We can not understand what people are moaning about.

It would appear that many people forget that is was not a purpose built Marriott hotel.
It was a Manor that was brought over by Marriott.

It does not have air-conditioning because they can not, the manor is a listed building and thus no air con.

The rooms have fans in them, which is the same as all of have at home... Why do people then feel the need moan and groan about this?
Do they have air con's in their homes? If they are like the 95% of the UK households they do not.
Talk about double standards here people... get a grip.

It is well laid out and very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
You are never called 'Mate or chap'.
It is always, 'Sir or Madame'

We had our wedding here as we love the feel of this chic but old manor.

The wedding planner, Sarah Hyde and the Banqueting supervisor Paul worked together very well and helped us fine tune our day.

WELL DONE!!

Not a great choice.

We ate in the adjacent bistro which was ok (if very quiet) but the pizza's were really poor. £11 for something that looked it had come out of the freezer department of Iceland. I don't know how hotels can get away with this kind of food when there marketed as something more than a travel inn

The worst thing about the hotel was my location: As far from reception as you could get but next door to the marquee which was hosting some kind of office do. It was extremely noisy and neither my son nor I could get to sleep until it finished close to midnight. I would love to have been offered a room that night when I complained but I was not.

I was given a 15% discount on the room but I couldn't really recommend the service or food even though the facilities are excellent.

Room Tip: Away from marquee!

Having staying at numerous Marriott's ( we are Silver membership holders) this one charges Marriott prices for no more than budget hotel standards throughout. Our stay was in November 2011.
Rooms - size is fine, but the bed and pillows were uncomfortable and the toilet didn't flush properly. There is no air conditioning or way of controlling the temperature that I could find. and we both found the room very hot. There is no separate shower cubicle.
On Arrival - There was no one to help with luggage at the door. Otherwise, check-in was fine.
Pool - Is right beside reception and not private. This also means that any activity in the seating area such as afternoon tea or just waiting for friends is overpowered by the smell of chlorine, similar to public swimming baths.
Casual Dining - In a different building and it was closed for the Winter.
Main Dining - As others have commented, this is a terrible experience if you were expecting quality, which I would in a Marriott. Hanbury Manor this is NOT!
We paid nearly £100 for a meal for two - starter and main course, (no dessert, tea or coffee)with wine; you would get a better choice in a cheap pub or value chain for a fraction of the price. Think fish or steak with chips or mash and you will get the gist of the menu. There is no creativity, no class, no service quality. The food was poorly cooked - The potatoes tasted like Smash - the rest of the food was bland and utterly tasteless. My wife is gluten free and asked for a gluten free meal. We suspect, given her later reaction, that the gravy had flour in it and the potatoes could indeed have been processed. When we telephoned from the room for a dinner reservation we were told that they were expecting a coach party of 47 at 7pm and they would need to call us back to let us know if they could accomodate us. Our reservation was requested for 6.30pm!
Location: Nice enough with a golf course but the idea of a 'Manor' is misleading. There is a old part of the hotel but it is not well integrated with the modern extensions.
Overall, a terrible experience went we expected so much more from Marriott.

My husband and I spent a week at Marriott's Sprowston Manor Hotel and Country Club in early November, using Marriott points. It was a very nice property, with pleasant staff and nice offerings. The main building and grounds were most attractive, and we loved the out-of-town location and quiet. Our room was large and had an attractive, up-to-date bathroom. We had large windows looking out onto the lawn. Some drawbacks, though. First of all, as other guests have noticed, the room was far too warm--hot even, and most surprising for November, even when the outside temperature was the 50s during the day and the 40s at night. Although the hotel provided us with a table fan and offered additional fans, it was unpleasant to be so warm at night when we were trying to sleep. We spoke to the staff about this and they recognized the problems but said that the historic designation of the property made it impossible to install the compressors outside that would be needed to put in air conditioning. Secondly, there was a decided limitation on shelves and drawers for our clothes, although the closet was large and enough hangers were provided. Also, the pillows were hard and the towels were quite thin. Other than the hot room, none of these issues were terribly important but they keep me from giving the hotel a higher grade. The food was good and the dining staff was friendly and accommodating. The buffet breakfasts had many choices, and the dinners were quite good. We also had treatments at the spa. The treatments--a massage and a different body treatment were average; I was a bit disappointed in my manicure, as it was done in one of the treatment rooms and the lighting was too low, to the point that the manicurist couldn't see too well and thus did a disappointing job, despite her being a delightful young woman. All in all, I would certainly recommend Sprowston as a charming, calm, pleasant place to "get away from it all" but it had some drawbacks that, to me, made it less than four- or five-star.

Room Tip: We understand that, in warmer weather, it is best to get a room away from where the wedding marquee...

We stayed one night here last weekend, which was booked using Marriott reward points. The hotel grounds are really beautiful, set in a well manicured golf course.

We arrived slightly early, but the reception desk told us our room was ready and that we had been upgraded to a studio. I had requested a roll away bed for our three year old and we had brought a portacot for our 23 mth old. They had however already set up two beds in the room for the kids which I thought was great service.

The room itself was lovely, modernly decorated still in a traditional way. The room being a studio was a good size and perfect with our two small children.

All in all we were very happy with our stay here.
