We liked the look of this Rural Spanish Hotel so we booked the best suite in the hotel which was quaint and lovely. However the shower door had fallen off the runners and there seemed no chance of it being fixed. We went for a walk around the lovely forested grounds and had lunch to give them time to fix it but after a few of hours we knew it would not be repaired and as the shower had horizontal jets we would have drenched the room. We asked to move to The Loft which had a usable shower and looked okay in the online photos. However - it is is need of an update furniture wise! It was like staying in an antique shop/ charity shop/student flat with faded dried flowers and other 'nic- nacs' and mismatched dark wood furniture ( with a couple of nice pieces thrown in.) The real log fire was good to use. The shower gave a blast of hot water then went cold so one had to play 'dodge shower! We had to ask for coffee cups. The room was not good value I felt.

The worst part was that there is a pump room attached to the Loft right behind the bed which whirrs, thuds loudly once and then thumps five times - every 2 and a half minutes -all night long. The purpose of this appears to be to take water from the well - but why it needs to run all night in an empty hotel I do not know. I spent the night lying in bed listening to audio books and music as I could not sleep at all. Do not stay in the Loft unless you check out the little pump room at the back and find out if they can turn it off at night and you like the 'decor'.

Very nice environment. Hotel is cosy with good restaurant. Pool is perfect and so is the service. Rooms could use refreshment. Mold on the ceiling in the bathroom.
But a hotel I have suggested my friends to go to to spend a relaxing day by the pool and for a good dinner.

I stayed at the Hotel Rural Can Darder at the end of May with a friend, we were attending a wedding near by and wanted a quiet place to retreat to, which is exactly what we got. The hotel is away from it all, there are a few houses near by, but that is all. It is very quiet at night, which is perfect if you want to escape, but a car is essential if you want to explore the local towns. The hotel itself is beautiful, surrounded by woodland and fields, which the staff are happy for you to explore. There is a gorgeous pool, which was mostly empty during our stay, and there is a restaurant on site if you don't want to go out for dinner. There is a family feel to the place, which makes it feel very welcoming, but this isn't intrusive and we were left alone to relax. The rooms vary, we had to move a couple of times due to a booking issue, but we preferred the rooms in the main house which had more natural light. The rooms are kept very clean by the housekeeping staff, but are quite 'chintzy', with lots of ornaments and accessories which were a bit dusty. Breakfast was also quite varied, starting off with lots of choice, but dwindling after a couple of days when there was less laid out (this may have been because of a large group of guests who were eating all of there meals together and were up early each morning). Over all, it is a lovely family hotel in a beautiful location, with friendly, helpful staff and a laid back vibe which rubs off on you. If you want to escape, then this is for you.

Room tip: Room is the main house have more natural light.
