We stayd only one nigth at the hotel. Room was ok, balcony is always nice to have. The view was very beautiful, straight to the castle! And outside pool. And there were bathrobes in the room.
Girls in reseption were friendly and helpful. And they had good english. Also the area of reseption was beautiful and spacious.
Breakfast was good. Maybe only problem was with the language with wellness reception, she didn't speak english. So better to leave clothes and everything in the room and wear swimming suit all the time, because there is shared sauna area. Normally in Finnish sauna there is water which could be thrown to the sauna stove, first there wasn't but later they bring it. Jacuzzi didn't work first but maybe we couldn't just use it. Swimming pool and jacuzzies were nice! Also good for families.

The hotel is just at the foot of Sümeg castle. The castle itself has been renovated by the owner of the hotel. It is nicely decorated, with excellent food - mostly provided by local producers -, very good staff. It has fantastic surroundings, the castle at the top of the hill, the small town etc... nearby.
The only weak point was the wellness. Though it is really large, somehow the pools did not have enough interesting elements and the saunas seemed a bit poor. You did not have a drinking well or someting. When you got thirsty you had to go out to the reception to ask for something to drink.
I would rather call the hotel - Castle Hotel and not Wellness Hotel as the hotel is a lot more focused on the castle than the wellnesss.
The rooms were nice, our room had a balcony facing the castle, we could even see the castle from our bed.

Room Tip: Ask for a castle view room, it is worth it!

This hotel is really excellent. All services are good. Nothing to declare. I will advise you to enjoy the swimming pools and jacuzzi. Internet wifi everywhere even in the swimming pool. The service is very good even if they do not speak english very well but in German, they are quite OK. Breakfast and lunch are really good. The only thing is the TV, only one english speaking tv: euronews so forget the tv and enjoy the spa, it is really better. The good thing also is the big commercial center TESCO is very close for your daily shopping.

We booked it in the last moment, hmmm, let's be honest, it was a mistake.
It is a 3 star hotel for the price of a 4 star.
In the new wing the lift is in an unconvenient place. During the dinner if one of the main courses is finished, that's it. ( in the middle of the time window, not at the end )During our stay the hotel was almost fully booked, and seemingly the staff was trying hard to cope with that, not always with a big success.
The evening entertainment program was more or less OK, but at the end the hungarian "csardas" style belly dancing to me was more like a bizarre. Maybe I'm not sophisticated enough to understand it.

At first sight the room is pleasant enough. Neutral colouring and the obligatory equestrian theme. The sound proofing is very poor and you can clearly hear people in the hallway outside. Sound from the entertainment carried into the room into the evening which would annoy light sleepers. The air conditioning is efficient, even with 30+C temps outside and the room maintained a good sleeping temperature overnight. The balcony is nice however sound carries from any adjoining rooms.

Breakfast and dinner (included in our room rate) were pleasant, if underwhelming affairs. A la carte service poolside was something completely different. Service is very slow and the waiters incredibly inattentive. We sat with finished plates in front of us for over 15 minutes while three waiters went empty handed into the kitchen multiple times. When we ordered desert we received a knife and fork, for ice cream. The main course was breaded chicken with the chips thoroughly overlooked, however the chicken was delicious. 7.300ft for lunch for two (main and desert with softdrinks, no alcoholic drinks) is more in line with Budapest high priced restaurants than the Hungarian countryside. At those prices I would expect first class service, not trainee waiters with no supervision.

The wireless Internet is spotty with practically zero coverage in the bar and pool areas. However at least it is free and unrestricted (VPN, app download allowed).

The main pool is very cold, even in 30+C temps. Other pools are more temperate and a reasonable selection of pools for children. Nothing too hot though which leaves the adults with no "children free" areas.

As mentioned in other reviews this Hotel has a "factory" feeling, similar to other high volume localities in Hungary. Visiting on the busiest weekend of the year didn't do anything to dispel this feeling.

Its a four starred wellness hotel. On paper. The food was crap, full of oil. The wellness was small, and in the saunas there was everybody in swimming suit (unhealthy, and untraditional). But the worst was the service. I the restaurant, they are seeing you through, they dont welcome you, even if you say good evening to them, they pass away. Unbelievable. Room was simple, but clean.

We stayed for 3 nights for a family vacation. The location of the hotel is spectacular, right next to the Sümeg castle, which you can see right from your room window (if you get a room on that side of the building) or from the pool. The horse show, which was included in the price is a good tourist catch for families with younger children. Overall, we were very impressed with the management of the hotel, the castle, the show, which is all in the hands of one family. The room was spacious enough for the three of us. Travel bed and even bathrobe was offered for our daughter. The wellness facilities are quite good, the breakfast definetly meets everyone's taste, as there were plenty to choose from. We were not quite satisfied with dinner, however. It is much more worth to visit the restaurant (Várcsárda) right at the foot of the castle, which offers great food. We were disappointed by the poor service in the rooms - floor under bed, beneath the curtains wasn't clean, no trashbags. As others have written, it does at times feel like it is a factory, as there's a big rotation in guests during the summer. Staff is overwhelmed with work and this might be the reason to why one can't really get the feeling of hospitality, which is disappointing. Overall, we had a nice, relaxing time and enjoyed our stay, but would recommend to improve on the above negative aspects.

Room Tip: It is worth to choose castle-view rooms.
