Owner description: Just like the sailors of old, you’d recognize this Venetian island by the picturesque pastel-colored houses and buildings visible from its shores. Burano also is famous for its intimate lace, an art its people want to keep alive.

“Beautiful Burano”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

If I had to choose between visiting Burano and Murano, I would choose Burano. Yes, you go to see lace at Burano and you go to see glass at Murano, but Burano is less "busy" and, as many have said, more picturesque. Three hours was really enough time in Burano, so visiting Murano on a combined "day trip" makes sense if you have the time.

“Burano Island - very colourful”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

A day trip from Venice included Murano Island (glass blowing) and Burano Island. Burano was very enjoyable and well worth the trip. The brightly coloured houses along canals made it a photographers dream. The abundant shops were full of handcrafts & clothing accessories. Scarves, table linen & clothing made of delicate hand made laces were very tempting buys. Several local restaurants were very popular and very tasty too. All made this a quite fascinating and lovely day trip.

“Eye candy”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

Burano is a relaxing and very picturesque island. All these houses painted in such bright colors. It is picture perfect indeed. I think a trip to Burnao is an excellent idea, particularly if this is not your first trip to Venice.
My wife and I combined Burano and Murano into one trip. It took pretty much whole day (9:00am-5:00 pm) and we loved it.

“Don't Miss Burano”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

We took the no. 12 Vaporetto from Ft.Nove to Murano for a brief stop and then on to the highlight of the day, Burano. A beautiful and peaceful place where we could wander the streets, shop and eat. It was a very relaxing experience before returning to the hustle of Venice. The Vaporetto gets busy in the late afternoon, so prepare accordingly.

“Peaceful, Very Pretty and Absolutely Charming”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

This was my second visit to the gorgeous little island of Burano and I loved it even more the second time around.
Even if you are not into buying lace, visit Burano and wander its quite streets, past its tidy, and wonderfully colourful homes then have a leisurely lunch at one its canal-side restaurants or stop at the local bakery and buy a freshly made, sugary doughnut from the charming, elderly baker. After the tourist crowds, faster pace and commercialism of Venice, Burano is ‘a breath of fresh air’. It is a chance to exhale!
If you plan to visit both Murano and Burano, I suggest visiting Burano first.
If you are interested in buying authentic Burano lace (not the cheap Chinese rubbish that is also for sale on Burano), visit the shop called Martina, on the right side, directly after the park that is at the ferry terminal. It is outstanding.
After Burano has totally relaxed and revitalised you, take the ferry to attractive but a bit more populated and commercial Murano and ‘hit the shops’ for well-priced glassware.
Warning: Beware of fake Murano glassware. If you want 'the real deal' only purchase larger items if there is a ‘Vetro Artistico Murano’ stick on label somewhere on the glass of that item and, after purchase, never remove that label because it is your proof that it is authentic.
