Owner description: Just like the sailors of old, you’d recognize this Venetian island by the picturesque pastel-colored houses and buildings visible from its shores. Burano also is famous for its intimate lace, an art its people want to keep alive.

If you plan to visit Venice do not skip this Island. It is only 45min by boat to the north of Venice and is one of the most pictoresque places that I have visited. You will not be able to put down your camera. Forget Disneyland, this place looks real. It has lots of good seafood restaurants and nice souvenir shops but just by walking around is rewarding enough. Enjoy it!

Lovely little island. Very relaxed atmosphere and totally beautiful.
Georgeous painted houses a delight to see. Lovely to stoll around stop for a cofee and try yet another gelatto! Lots of island crafts around too worth looking at.
A must do if you are visiting Venice. The usual tourist traps but go further from the vaporetta landing.

What a beautiful little island and such a contrast to the hassle and bustle of Venice. We had a wonderful time strolling around the island, looking at the cute and colourful houses, the shops selling local merchandise and taking in the relaxed atmosphere.
There are lots of restaurants, but some are tourist traps - and we fell for one (and regretted not having looked up on Tripadvisor).
We travelled by vaporetto (the price was included in our 48 hour pass which cost 30 euros). Went out via the island of Murano (on line 4.1 or 4.2 or the express line 3) but came back direct from Burano on line 14. It is worth planning your route beforehand - which we did not. We really enjoy travelling on public transport, people watching and chatting to tourists and locals. Alternatively, you can go by water taxi - which is much faster, more expensive and less crowded.

Burano just brings a smile to your face... how can you not when you are surrounded by all these beautiful little coloured houses everywhere? The locals are friendly and warm, the streets aren't crowded with people and it was just so nice and quiet... definitely recommended for a break from the hecticness of Venice. Wonderful for a nice slow stroll...

this little gorgeous Island off of Venice, Italy is so colorful and quaint. The little town/Island is filled with wonderful people and their local fisherman catch fresh fish and cook it in one of the amazing little restaurants their with music and the waiters are very entertaining :) Must visit this little gem! you must get on a boat taxi to take you there from Venice :)
