Owner description: Just like the sailors of old, you’d recognize this Venetian island by the picturesque pastel-colored houses and buildings visible from its shores. Burano also is famous for its intimate lace, an art its people want to keep alive.

There are many cute colorful houses! I found it really cute! Also it's really different from the main island of venezia so when you want to see a bit different place, it's really good there! But it's a bit far anyway, it take about 30 min from murano and there are only 2 ferry per 1 hour between murano- burano. But i can suggest you to go =)

A lovely plaice to visit with quaint little shops around the center of the town , lots of lace shops which Burano is famous for. Plenty of trattorias , restaurants and small cafes around the town .

Great place to visit , with shops selling tapestries and lace . A good choice of eating places around the town .

Wonderful vaporetto trip out from the mainland. Blue, pink, green houses; nice restaurants and a peaceful park area aside the church.

Venice's most picturesque island, due to its brightly painted houses. We went on island by vaporetto. I saw an old lady making lace with needles, in traditional way and had opportunity to buy her lace souvenirs. Visited church of s.Martino and leaning campanile and saw Tiepolo's (Crufixion). We didn't have time to see "Museo del Merletto". I discovered old fashioned Burano bakery, selling venetian, local burranei cookies, dolcetti di Burano... Giorgio Garga is the baker and owner. Home made cookies... beautiful story. I almost brought a suitcase full of biscuits with me.

A one hour boat trip from Venice. A unique small island , with a quiet atmosphere, and vibrant colors. The houses are painted in all rainbow colors, small canals full of light , easy to walk around. A photographer paradise.
Should go and visit first thing in the morning , to avoid the crowds that arrive at lunch time. Good boat connexion with Murano.
Spend a couple of hours walking around and then enjoy a great lunch , fresh fish is offered in most restaurants.
Interesting Lace museum, you can still see local women doing the lace work.
