We stayed at Railay bay resort and spa in march 2012, stunning beach! and cliffs, we enjoyed the location as we could eat out at restuarants along the beach,i would say there was around 6 and a bar for cocktails. This was a plus as we normally visit secluded locations. We did try an evening meal at the hotel which was pleasant, all the restaurants are pretty similar on Railegh west.

Raleigh east also has restaurants the best meal we ate was actually in a shack called the bat bar with neon lights and a younger crowd,so its not romantic or a restaurant but fab food and menu.-The flame thrower show was amusing well worth a look and boxing match was also very funny to watch, which was down the road.Raleigh East comes to life at night but I wouldn't recommend staying here as the beach is a marsh for some of the day.

Good points - beautiful surroundings, the resort had 2 lovely pools although the one by the beach didn't have enough sun loungers and was a bit crowded but very interesting to watch the long tail boats and people passing, the beach is quite busy with a fair bit of noise but we liked something to watch. We preferred the other pool as it was tucked away, peaceful, with a cliff backdrop and we always managed to find a sun lounger. So something for everyone.

Bad points - absolutely no exageration I had NO SLEEP for the duration of our stay ! Monkeys playing on our tin roof most of the night, along with a generator noise and terrible noisy air conditioner. Reception kindly offered to move us but it wasnt much better sadly.

My partner left his watch in the safe when we moved rooms. As we were nearly at the end of our stay he didnt realise until we had left the hotel. We e-mailed and e-mailed but we never got a response which is terrible after 4 emails so we gave up, which leaves us unhappy and very dissopointed.Look after your belongings.

Over all this holiday had a sence of adventure and fun I must also mention the long tail boats are difficult to get in and out of and I can't believe you hop off in the sea and are expected to carry your suit case on your head! or pull it in the sea?.Amusing to watch though !

We have also stayed at the Rayvadee, next door to Railagh resort and spa and it is just another world if you have the budget stay here even for one night we were speechless and I got an amazing nights sleep-just when I didn't want it!!! Do not hesitate to book the Rayavadee egnor other trip advisor reports that are bad only because they dont let in non residents so some people get the hump! But thats excellent when your staying here, and how can people rate a hotel bad when they haven't even stayed in it! When you stay here you feel so special and that's one of the reasons why it's exclusive.Every detail is thought out an umbrella by your front door, silent air con, such comfy beds, padded sun loungers, spotlessly clean, high spec I actually felt a little emotional and overwhelmed at it all, beautiful grounds you are in a forest. So much more I could tell you but I don't want to spoil it for you.

The room was a privacy cottage which we felt was a bit tired.

Room tip: Just ask for one no where near the trees! The monkeys keep you awake at night.

Railay Bay Resort

We arrived on the ferry from Koh Phi Phi at Krabi Town after being given some dodgy advice by a woman in a tours shop on Phi Phi. We were then transferred by mini bus to Ao Nang Beach where as the sun set, we hired a guy in a long tail boat to ferry us around to the secluded Railay Bay. We arrived at dark and were greeted warmly by the staff who were efficient to check us in and transported us by golf buggy through the massive resort to the opposite end where our adjoining rooms were.

The rooms are big, modern and clean, bathrooms nice and the grounds are well maintained. We were however a LOOOOONG way from the hotels amenities, fine for us but some might find it a problem.

We ate in the restaurant for every meal while we were there and experienced regular problems with the bills. My advice is to check everything carefully before signing. Food was good and after reading previous reviews about meals and service, it seems as though some big improvements have been made.

Drinks are quite expensive, so we thought we would take advantage of the happy hour advertised in the lobby from 2–3pm at the pool bar and from 5- 6pm in the restaurant. On the first day, we ordered one drink from the pool bar only to find that for the rest of the hour, there was not a bar person in sight and on the second evening, we waited until 5 and were told by the staff in the restaurant that happy hour had been cancelled! I went quietly to ask at the lobby where they made a few calls and it was declared back on.

The only other issue was that the hotel advertises free wifi in the rooms. This is not the case. There is no signal in the room, only in the lobby and only sometimes. I asked the staff about this and they were quite unapologetic for advertising something that is actually not really true.

Overall, very good value for money, staff mostly friendly, location is unbeatable.

Room tip: If you dont wish to start your day with a morning walk, request a room near to the restaurant (west side) of the resort.

Booked 2 deluxe rooms - one for the kids and one for the wife and I. We requested a pick up from Krabi International. They were waiting when we arrived and we were then escorted in a airconditioned mini van to Ao nang, where a longtail was waiting for us to drop us at East Railay beach - this for a cost of 1500 baht for the 5 of us, whihc we were happy to pay as were were exhuasted from a 20 hour flight.

We found our rooms to be very comfortable and large with all the neccessary ammenties therein. The staff were also very friendly and helpful - not sure why so many people have commented on bad service and lack of interest?? Sure, there is a language barrier, but with a bit of patience, you always overcome this.

The beach is lovely and so are both swimming pools - nice and clean. There are however rennovatons taking place and the resort next door and due to this there is a huge barge parked on beach with sand and stone that trucks and diggerloaders offload all day long and there is also some construction noise, but this certainly did not spoil our time here in any way. This hotel actually offers an extra free night as a "peace meal" in order to accomodate this inconvenience, so make use of this oppertunity!

The breakfasts were very nice with a fair selection, but this reamined the same every day. not bad at all though. We did not have any lunch or dinner here as the restuarant prices were rather expensive. I do feel that if they cut their prices by 20%, they would have a lot more people eating here, rather than sitting with an almost empty restuarant on most evenings.

Overall, we cannot fault this resort and had a most enjoyable stay and would definitely come back again.

Room tip: The deluxe rooms are large and comfortable

Thank you so much for your nice review. You stayed in Railay Deluxe Room (Building). The room is very spacious for family and good location. I'm happy to know that you booked our airport transfer directly with us. It is more convenience than you come by yourself. Of course, the price is little bit higher than public taxi at the airport but you feel more comfortable.
For "Staff issue" certainly, our staff can speak limited English. Normally, Front desk and F&B service. They can communicate. However, we will try to improve and have some basic English class to train them. For the restaurant, i will refer to F&B Manager about the price as you mention.

We deeply hope to welcome your family back with us again soon.

Sincerely,
Timmy

Stayed here for three nights and loved every second of it. The facilities were good and the villa I stayed in was luxurious. Especially liked the swimming pool right on the beach and the restaurant served a very nice buffet breakfast. Would definitely recommend this to people wanting a bit of luxury but be warned - the massage I got was brutal and I couldn't feel my back and shoulders for 24 hours!!

Room tip: Suite cottages are big and give you good access to the beach.
