I booked 4 nights at the Rayavadee as a surprise birthday / engagement for my girlfriend. It looked amazing in the brochure and it really didnt dissappoint. From getting off the plane the service was brilliant. A 20 minute drive to their own ferry dock and 20 minutes on boat to hotel. We were met by the staff and seated for a lovely drink while the paperwork was sorted out (not by us). Brief introduction and then the choice to either have a tour now or leave until whenever we wanted

Location:
The location is excellent. Right on the Railay peninsula with access to all 3 beaches. Phranang beach is probably one of the best in the world and although it is not exclusive this is the only resort on that beach. The beaches are busy with day trippers but in evening when most trippers gone home it was lovely to have the beaches quieter.

Service:
Excellent from start to finish. They fall over themselves trying to help you. My girlfiend had a lovely bday cake left in the room for her birthday as well. She got a tiny cut on her leg and someone was over in a second to clean it and apply a plaster!. Never a sullen face or task too difficult. They were also very friendly and chatty. The only negative point was one night in the restaurant they were short staffed and struggled but they apologised profusely for this and you could tell the remaining staff very trying as hard as possible

Cleanliness/ rooms:
I have seen some reviews saying the decor is dated but i think it was spotless. They have really captured the colonial feel they were looking for. Pool was perfect. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had the "basic" and managed to have a view of the beach. The bathroom itself was gorgeous. The negative is that we were on the Namao beach side and at night you could hear some of the music from the town. It didnt bother us but i could see some people expecting complete peace and quiet

Value:
Yes it is pricey but i would consider it excellent value. If the food/ trips are too expensive there are little towns with restaurants/ minimarts/ excursion kiosks a short walk away (and so well hidden you wouldnt realise they were there) The food was excellent. The breakfast buffet and meal top class and the free afternoon tea a wonderful experience also. Seeing Phranang beach at night via a short walk from your pavillon was worth it

My husband & I spent our honeymoon at Rayavadee and couldn't have wished for a better experience! Whilst, the resort offers a beautiful setting, a fabulous spa, yummy food, divine cocktails and daily activities, the service and attention to detail from the staff was the most notable! They treated us like royalty!
We spent a day cruising the islands on the resort's cruiser and enjoyed a champagne lunch on a secluded beach - and we weren't allowed to lift a finger! As for the other days, the hardest decision was whether to sit by the pool ar at the beach. The scenery is amazing at both!
We were also entertained by the daily lunchtime visit of the local monkeys - steal a banana from breakfast and offer it to them!!
I would recommend Rayavadee to anyone - especially a honeymoon - it is worth every cent!

It started out with our being sat down when we got there, given a scented hand towel and a not so tasty green drink think. That would have been fine (although might have been nice to put a little rum or something in there) and seems to be standard protocol at a nice resort. But instead of leaving us alone for ten minutes to unwind and begin our vacation.. (here again a real drink to dull the pain might have helped) they went into a 30 min 'lecture' on the resort. What roads to take, every detail about each of the not so great places to eat, on and on.. felt like we were in school prepping for exams. And of course passport and credit card... So the illusion was very half hearted.
The resort itself is okay. They were having some sewage problems when I was there. Would have been nice if someone had said something,, instead of the 'emperors new clothes' way they dealt with it. Don't go near the beaches (seriously), they bus people in every day. Would have been nice to see a hammock, and all of those other cute beach touches. None of which I found. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Gift shop was pricey but pretty fantastic. Nice little library.

Your experience of staying at Rayavadee starts at Krabi Airport where you are warmly greeted and escorted to one of the hotel's air conditioned vans where a cold drink and chilled lemongrass scented flannel awaits. From there it is a short ride to a private jetty for your transfer onto the Rayavadee motor launch which, in turn, speeds you past breathtaking scenery before you arrive 20 minutes later at Rayavadee itself. This transfer is complementary.
Once at the hotel you are greeted with a welcome drink and more cold flannels before being checked in within the beautiful surroundings of the Raya Lounge (not a check in desk in site!)
Our family of 4 children, ranging from 1 to 13, fit comfortably in a Family Pavilion. All of the Pavilions are detached and are situated within the hotel’s extensive grounds.
The hotel has frontage to 3 completely separate beeches, one of which (Pranang) has been recently voted as one of the top 10 in the world!
Every single member of staff was genuinely warm and friendly and we felt the level of service was exemplary. The hotel's restaurants were each very cleverly designed and served fine and more casual dining at reasonable prices.
Our four daughters were all captivated by the children's activities (Thai cooking, fruit carving, cave walks etc) each afternoon and the personal attention given by Thoomma and Sal-mar.
The hotel provides complimentary afternoon tea and pastries at four o'clock onwards each afternoon, again in the beautiful setting of the Raya Lounge.
All in all, we had a wonderful holiday in one of the most breathtaking locations imaginable and can’t wait to return!

My wife and I went here for one of our stops on our honeymoon. We were here for 5 nights.

Our arrival was unreal. Greeted like royalty and a great start to our stay. The grounds are phenominal. You are taken to your room in a golf buggy and you can even call this buggy to take you to anywhere in the resort (if you feel lazy).

We stayed in a Deluxe pavillion which is their "standard" room. However, because it was low season, they put us in a room close to the pool. It would have been nice if they could have upgraded us due to it being our honeymoon, but they didnt. Nevertheless, this room was amazing. I have stayed in many hotels in the world and I tell you this has to be one of the best. it is a small 'cottage' of your own. However, the pavillion and the resort is crawling with mosquitos. be prepared for an encounter with a geko!!

This resort is beautiful. It is surrounded bby nature, tall cliffs, monkeys all over the place (harmless) and its almost like this resort has come out of nowhere.

Food. There are four restaruants at the resort. The italian and the Thai restaurants were great. They were pricey but that is expected at such a resort. The service at these places was unreal it was so good. ALl in all, the food was good on the resort. It was pricey though and a downside was that it was difficult getting off the resort to go to another decent restaurant in Krabi.
Afternoon tea is a must!!!!!

Activities - very expensive and in many of the excursions, you needed a minimum of four people to go. That means if it was just a couple (like us), then you would have to pay a hefty premium to go on excursions. This is what we did when we hired a 2 engine speedboat to take us on a tour of Phi Phi, Maya Bay, Bamboo Islands. However, although it was expensive, the service was impeccable. The boat was great, we felt like royalty AGAIN and the picnic thatw as part of our excusrion was served to uson Bamboo island, although it was very expensive, the excursion exceeded expectations.

The Spa at Rayavadee was very nice. We got a free treatment each and they were as you would expect from a spa at such a resort.

Beach - wasn't great and not what I expected. It is shared with other hotels and this is not what i expected. there are many other hotels on the beach where backpackers stay. We were in low season and there were many people on the beach. I can imagine it being very busy during high season! A private maintaind beach is what this hotel is missing.

Going to Krabi - Had to go by Water boat. Took about half hour and wasn't the most comfrtable - was a good expereince. only costed 400 baht for two people (return). However, this was the only way to get back to the main land. For the rest of the time, we were stuck on the resort!

It was low season and there weren't many people around. However, the overall expereince was brilliant and would go here again - in high season!
