Just for reference, I tend to stay at Four Seasons, Oberoi and One and Only resorts. I will say that my overall experience at The Rayavadee was good, but not great. Let me elaborate:

Room: We were in the Rayavadee Villa, and it is directly on Phranang Beach (the best beach on the property). A lot of the parts of the villa were breaking down and old and need some serious restoration, but it was very attractive. The villa came with a butler (Maria, who was absolutely wonderful), a sauna, and a living/dining room as well as the bedrooms/bathrooms. The beds were okay, the shower was a little funky, and the A/C worked great, so overall...not too bad.

Food: They could use some work on the dining. The international options (meaning NOT Thai food) were limited and they were frequently out of western options. We went in one day and they were out of everything that I would eat on the menu! Hahaha, it was a little funny, but when you are paying that kind of premium for a villa, you would hope that the dining would be a little better.

Service: Our butler Maria, was absolutely incredible and did everything and more that we asked for. The rest of the service staff were mixed. Sometimes the service would be so slow and take forever and sometimes it was lightning fast and super attentive. So basically a mixed bag.

Beach: We were here in August, and the water was very murky. If you were submerged in the water, you couldn't see your outstretched hand...that is how murky it was. The beach is stunning and the setting beautiful, but without a clean beach, and TONS of people on it at all times, how great can it be? I love the ocean, and would go into this beach and come out with all sorts of crap in my swimsuit because of the general cleanliness of the water. My mother got stung by a jellyfish and had terrible pain for quite some time. Overall, I'm hoping this beach is better not in monsoon seasons, but if it isn't, then maybe Thailand has some serious work to do to fix their beaches up.

Gym: The gym is old and worn down. In all honestly though, the general state of the entire resort was old and worn down. The gym is sparsely outfitted (I'm talking a rack of free weights, an all in one machine, and one bench coupled with two VERY old treadmills and a stepper like thing) and badly maintained. Clearly not at the top of the "to fix" list.

Overall: If I was in Krabi again, I would maybe come back here. I certainly would hope that they would do some serious work on their landscaping, the general infrastructure and rooms, but in general, this resort did a good job and tried their best I felt.

Room tip: Choose the Rayavadee Villa.

We stayed at Rayavadee in the late August and we were impressed by the impeccable service and the genuine hospitality of the staff. The food at Raitalay was amazing especially vegetable tikka, seafood glass noodle salad, and marinated beef skewers. Thank to Khun Sayan, the restaurant manager, we had such a memorable dining experience in all of the dining outlets. The sea and island excursion was well organized by our excursion guide, Khun Ball; we were impressed by his humbleness and great sense of service mind. Lastly, we were highly impressed by Khun Veerayuth, our front office agent, who has demonstrated his genuine hospitality and passion in ensuring highest customer satisfaction. However, we were quite disappointed that a resort like Rayavadee, that is a part of LHW, doesn't offer a pen in any of the villa (as a basic necessity of any hotel room) considering the fact that having a pen offered in the villa would benefit most of the guests when they have to fill in or simply write something. For instance, we found it quite absurd that Ravayadee asked us to fill in different kinds of evaluating and registration forms without providing a pen in the villa. The yoga class could have highly been improved concerning the location and the yoga instructor's method of conducting the class. Overall experience was amazing and we would definitely come back again.

We had a great stay in Ravayadee. Professional staff and beautiful environment
we stayed in a villa with jacuzzi (we had a room upgrade as member of LHW)
Hotel is located on well known railay beach nestled in a tropical forest with monkeys.
Very good restaurants, I recommend Grotto restaurant near a cave where they have grilled food.
High level of service, we were welcomed by staff speaking French (native language)
Welcome and departure gifts, a lot of small attention which makes the stay pleasant
we recommend the villas with pools or jacuzzis worth the money.
will come back as the setting is amazing as well as the facilities and staff
