Over the years we have had the opportunity of staying at some fabulous hotels in some wonderful countries, but without a doubt Rayavadee is right at the top of our list of top holiday destinations. We expected something special and were not disappointed.

Our family of 3 stayed at Rayavadee in mid June. We were met with a warm welcome at Krabi airport, had an effortless transfer to one of the Rayavadee speed boats and a short time later arrived at Rayavadee to be greeted like old friends with beautiful flowers and a delicious cool drink. We had a brief but informative orientation and then were taken to our accommodation by golf cart. There are 2 or 3 golf carts which are handy if there happens to be a rain storm but getting around Rayavadee on foot is easy. To keep the peace and tranquility there are no other motorized vehicles the staff get around on old fashioned bicycles. Our accommodation was superb in every way, from the crisp bed linens, to the well stocked fridge, fresh fruit and home made cookies to the fabulous bathroom where you could watch the monkeys in the trees whilst soaking in a bath. There was even a child size bathrobe for our 9 year old. Everywhere we went there was a gorgeous aroma of Lemon Grass and Frangipani and the sound of the gentle sea breeze in the palm trees. The location is stunning and immaculately maintained. We had no option but to go in low season but for us it was perfect with the resort and beaches being quiet. Most every night we ate in the Grotto Restaurant which has a unique setting and staff who were fantastic especially with our 9 year old. Breakfasts were generous and eaten in a relaxed setting, afternoon tea was a delight with the local monkeys adding some excitement – they are incredibly fast and have a sweet tooth!

Every member of staff helped to make this a perfect holiday, they are a fantastic team. We would defiantly go back and would plan on low season again which suits us better - no doubt the resort and the excellent Phranang Beach are much busier in high season.

We completed a 3 week stay in Thailand here in a villa on the beach and it was magnificent, we wish we had stayed here for the full duration.
The food was beautiful , the staff were amazingly helpful, polite and made you feel special. Would love to return again.

Room Tip: You can't fail but if you afford a beach villa then you must.

Having experienced many other five-star hotels around the region due to work I can say that though the setting may be breathtaking, it is truly the staff's willingness to help and can do attitude that takes your breath away.

The arrival experience was the first wow factor. The airport representative's welcome, the gorgeous 20 minute private speed boat transfer followed by a refreshing non-alcoholic welcome drink (to which I should have gotten the recipe) at the check-in pavilion was an excellent start to this vacation.

The pavilion we stayed in looked simple from the outside but was well designed and very comfortable inside with elegant, understated Thai-cultural touches. The bed was very comfortable, the shower pressure strong, lovely toiletries (the Jasmine body wash was my wife's favorite) and even a complimentary mini bar (except for the imported alcohol) was a nice touch.

The Pool staff were amongst the most attentive and friendly yet unobtrusive staff in the resort, and like the rest of their colleagues paid special attention to our 15 month old son by trying to keep him occupied with toys and just playing with him (a hard act to follow once we got home).

The food at the Raitalay restaurant and Grotto (make sure you get one of the tables closest to be beach and have dinner at sunset, the atmosphere and beauty of the Andaman sea was amazing) were very good and prices reasonable for a 5-star resort. However the food at the Thai restaurant seemed to be more geared towards the foreign palate not just in terms of the spiciness being turned down, but overall flavor as well.

Paradise also has its shortcomings as we felt that despite the staff's willingness to help, at times their level of English comprehension seemed to lessen the effectiveness of their service.

A minor point as well would be that cell phone service is limited on the resort with the Grotto and Umbrella Tree Court being the worst offenders (though this might have been a sign to just enjoy the vacation and put down my Blackberry).

Also if you are more of a stay indoors person, the selection of TV channels is rather limited 12 or so, for a resort of this caliber. However 1, there is a large DVD library in their Library room, and 2 with such beautiful scenery you should not even contemplate staying indoors in the first place!

A day did not go by during our four day stay without the General Manager, meeting and greeting all of the guests and having friendly conversations.

My wife and I completed our trip to Thailand with a stay at Rayavadee. We had stayed in average/slightly above average hotels for our whole trip. Once we hit Rayavadee, we were blown away. This place is magnificent. The scenery is like nothing else in Thailand, truly remarkable. The resort is on the most stunning part of Railay, stretching over three beaches. The rooms/huts were great, the staff was exceptionally friendly & the food was fantastic. Our favourite parts of the resort were Phra nang beach and the resort's pool. Hotel is expensive, but you feel rich staying here. Hey, you only live once.

Room Tip: After booking online, I emailed the resort to tell them it was our honeymoon, they sent someone with...

We ate at the restaurant here when we were doing a private speed boat tour with friends. Amazing location as the restaurant is located partially in a cave. Very beautiful and tranquil even though it is at busy Railay Beach. The food was good but it is the location we will remember.

If you're headed to Railay Beach and want to splurge, there is no better place to stay. From the moment you are met at the airport, you feel very taken care of and appreciated. A private car takes you to a dock to catch the speed boat. Twenty minutes later, you have a cold drink in your hand and you are being checked into paradise. Our pavilion (347) was as close to the beach as you can get and had a lovely spa and outdoor shower. I was traveling with a friend so having a two story pavilion was really handy, especially since I had terrible jet lag and was able to watch TV downstairs while my friend slept. As everyone mentions, the bathroom is great and the amenities are divine. We took advantage of the spa, which was lovely and very high quality, but expensive for Thailand.

It was low season so in addition to getting a great rate, the resort (and beach) was incredibly quiet. The staff all knew our names and regularly stopped to chat and make sure we had everything we needed. I travel regularly for work and can say, without a doubt, that the staff absolutely makes this hotel a special place. From the wait staff to housekeeping to the pool attendants, everyone is very friendly and focused on your satisfaction.

I will definitely be back one day.

We recently stayed at Rayavadee at the start of a Thailand & Cambodia holiday and it set the benchmark for the rest of the hotels on our trip! Fantastic service - efficient, but unobtrusive; wonderful food which I thought was quite reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel and lovely spacious villas with super comfortable beds. I had an amazing signature massage in the spa - well worth the money. The main beach gets busy with day tippers, but this didnt affect our enjoyment of the resort at all as we spent most of the day by the (peaceful) main pool and wandered down to the sea when we wanted a swim. We also liked the fact that there were alternative local restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel. Would definitely recommend Rayavadee to both couples and families.
