“Good location, prices, rooms, friendly staff”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Stayed with 3 friends at La Jamaca for 2 nights. Great room, spacious, clean, good air conditioning. Fun small pool. Fantastic bar and hammock area great for quiet evenings. Short walk to the town center, dark at night but felt safe (Very lively on some nights!). Very helpful staff, Frances, Alex, Kevin and Zulma.

La Jamaca is a nice place to stay. Just don't expect a Hilton and you will be fine. Located at the village of La Parguera is just a little bit away from the center of the village. Nights are dark so I would not recommend coming and going walking from the hotel to the town since the little road is very dark and lonely. I am enclosing many pictures for your benefit.
La Jamaca setting is beautiful. There is a main wood house and an attached wood building. Rooms 1,2,3,4,5 are there upstairs. There a a couple of other rooms built in cement in front of the parking lot but in my opinion are not pretty or appealing. The gathering area is beautiful. Located in the center of the two buildings, there is nature everywhere. Many plants. It looks very nice during the day and during the night. There is a pool that looks nice because where it is but the water, although clean, does not look pristine. There are places to sit and several hammocks here and there. The hammocks are nice to seat down and chat or read or simply rest. To lay down in the hammocks it is a little uncomfortable because your feet are too elevated. There is a small bar and restaurant that look nice but we never used their services.
The rooms 1 to 5 are small but nice and practical. Very clean. They are a little bit dark since most of them have only one light feature. It would be nice if they would add another light or lamp (some of them do but still the rooms are a little dark). Some people like to read while in bed. Decoration is simple. The TV is absolutely very small, the size of a computer screen. The TV channels are VERY limited. With TV’s (big ones) so cheap everywhere we were surprise at the size of the TVs and disappointed. Nobody explains you anything about the cable service or the TV listings and there is nothing written about it. The air conditioner unit was small but amazing and the room was cool.
Our stay came with a breakfast that included coffee from a coffee pot and power milk, two toasts and a bowl of oatmeal. They sell other stuff. It was okay, but we decided to eat somewhere else.
Claiming that they are environmentally conscious they WON’T SERVICE or CLEAN your room if you don't request it. So, don't expect to have your bed made when you come back from a field trip. The toilet paper is not the best one. Industrial type. Don’t expect Charming.
Bathrooms are very small and if you have to shave your legs in the shower forget it! The rooms and bathrooms are very clean. They supply two very small, cheap, and thin soaps and a little bottle of shampoo.
On the bathroom floor they don’t put a mat. They put a rectangular piece of paper. We requested a small rug and were given a very tiny rug for the bathroom.
Towels are okay for a small place like this. White, very clean, not too big but good size.
They are strict about check out time and if you exceed the time you will be charge (even if the hotel is empty).
The rooms have white comforters on the beds and they want them to be perfect and pristine when you leave. They checked our comforter very carefully commenting on that it showed “something”. I told them that it is impossible to keep everything new all the time and that there is something called “wear and tear”. Apparently they had had bad experiences in the past. If they are damaged in any way you will be charged. So, stay there while they ck the room, be sure they revise the comforter in front of you and take pictures. Just in case ... In my opinion major damages of course should be charged but minor wear and tear not. After all this is a hotel even if it is small.
The rooms have a door opening to a "balcony". The balcony is not really a balcony and it is there for decorative purposes only since is tiny. That door faces an empty lot that is not very clean. The back of the hotel does not look too hot either. Other than that back empty lot the view surrounding the area is very nice and you can even see the sea line.
Congratulations to Kevin, the employee who greeted us. He was wonderful, cooperative, proper, and service minded. What a nice young man. The other people we encountered were very nice too. Sweet people.
If you go to La Parguera a must to do is to rent one of those little botes and explore all the area stopping in a few of the small cays. Believe me, only that is worth the trip to this beautiful far-away-place. If you bargain you can get them for about $20 per hour.
I would not mind staying at La Jamaca again. Go try it.

Room Tip: Room number one seems to be the best one.

Only stayed one night but would love to return - this is an area I've always wanted to visit. Property is small, unique, quiet, with lovely rooms, wireless access. Lobby and lounging area surrounds a small pool. Far enough from the activity of the town (La Parguera) that on weekends, noise is not an issue. Small, very clean restaurant off of lobby serves local dishes - didn't try, although intend to next visit!! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Would have loved to stay another night but not meant to be - next time, more nights! Easy to locate with a rental car map, assisted by local map from booking site and signs to follow from the town.

Room Tip: Booked late in the game, so not much choice for my room, which was located on upper level at one end...

We were only here for one day and can't really comment on the location, but we arrived late and they called me ahead if time to warn me about their office hours and then stayed late until we arrived. Its a really cute spot, and a great value.clean sheets, breeds and floors and a good experience.

Went for three nights and was pleasantly surprised. This was a mid-week visit so the place was quiet as was the town of La parguera. This is a small, cozy hotel with a small pool and home made beach area with hammocks. many place to sit and relax in the outside lobby/pool area. A restaurant/bar is available for breakfast and dinner on the weekends. The beds/pillows and comforters are the best you will find. The staff is helpful. Kevin especially. Rooms are small but clean. Shower is hot. Pool or beach towels are available. Could use a little upkeep. But overall it is very good

It's a very nice family-owned inn. It has a lot of charm. Carlos was very friendly, gave us a lot of information about La Parguera, Guenica, and surrounding areas. Very quiet place! Rooms are very simple and unpretentious but charming in their own way. Each room has a porch with a hammock. We enjoyed our stay there.
